പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി ശ്രീ നരേന്ദ്ര മോദി ഇന്നു ഗുജറാത്തിലെ ജാംനഗറിൽ വന്യജീവി സംരക്ഷണ-രക്ഷാപ്രവർത്തന-പുനരധിവാസ സംരംഭമായ ‘വൻതാര’ ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്തു. ശ്രീ അനന്ത് അംബാനിയുടെയും സംഘത്തിന്റെയും കാരുണ്യപരമായ ശ്രമങ്ങളെ അഭിനന്ദിച്ച ശ്രീ മോദി, ‘വൻതാര’ മൃഗങ്ങൾക്കു സുരക്ഷിതതാവളമൊരുക്കുന്നുവെന്ന് അഭിപ്രായപ്പെട്ടു.

“വൻതാരപോലുള്ള ഉദ്യമം ശരിക്കും പ്രശംസനീയമാണ്. നമ്മുടെ ഭൂമി പങ്കിടുന്നവരെ സംരക്ഷിക്കുക എന്ന നൂറ്റാണ്ടുകൾ പഴക്കമുള്ള നമ്മുടെ ധർമചിന്തയുടെ ഉജ്വല ഉദാഹരണമാണിത്. ചില കാഴ്ചകൾ ഇതാ...”

“ജാംനഗറിലെ വൻതാരയിലേക്കുള്ള എന്റെ സന്ദർശനത്തിൽനിന്നുള്ള ചില കാഴ്ചകൾകൂടി.”

“വൻതാരയിൽ, ആസിഡ് ആക്രമണത്തിന് ഇരയായ ആനയെ ഞാൻ കണ്ടു. ആനയെ അതീവ ശ്രദ്ധയോടെയാണു ചികിത്സിക്കുന്നത്. മറ്റ് ആനകളും അവിടെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. വിരോധാഭാസമെന്നു പറയട്ടെ അവയും അവയുടെ പാപ്പാൻമാർകാരണം കാഴ്ച നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടവയാണ്. അമിതവേഗതയിലെത്തിയ ട്രക്ക് ഇടിച്ചതാണു മറ്റൊരു ആനയെ. ഇതു പ്രധാന ചോദ്യത്തിന് അടിവരയിടുന്നു - എങ്ങനെയാണ് ഇത്ര അശ്രദ്ധയും ക്രൂരതയുമുണ്ടാകുന്നത്? അത്തരം നിരുത്തരവാദപരമായ പെരുമാറ്റം അവസാനിപ്പിച്ചു മൃഗങ്ങളോടുള്ള ദയയിൽ ശ്രദ്ധ കേന്ദ്രീകരിക്കാം.”

“വേറെയും ഉദാഹരണങ്ങളുണ്ട്. വാഹനം ഇടിച്ച സിംഹക്കുട്ടിക്കു നട്ടെല്ലിനു ഗുരുതരമായി പരിക്കേറ്റു. അവൾക്കു ശരിയായ പരിചരണം ലഭിച്ചു. കുടുംബം ഉപേക്ഷിച്ച പുള്ളിപ്പുലിക്കു ശരിയായ പോഷകാഹാരപരിചരണം നൽകി പുതിയൊരു ജീവിതമേകി. അത്തരം നിരവധി മൃഗങ്ങൾക്കു നൽകിയ പരിചരണത്തിനു വൻതാര സംഘത്തെ ഞാൻ അഭിനന്ദിക്കുന്നു.”

At Vantara, I saw an elephant which was the victim of an acid attack. The elephant was being treated with utmost care.
