પ્રધાનમંત્રી શ્રી નરેન્દ્ર મોદીએ વિશ્વ સિંહ દિવસ નિમિત્તે સિંહ સંરક્ષણ પ્રત્યે ઉત્સાહી તે સૌને શુભેચ્છા પાઠવી છે.
શ્રેણીબદ્ધ ટ્વીટમાં પ્રધાનમંત્રીએ કહ્યું;
"સિંહ રાજસી અને સાહસી છે. એશિયાટિક સિંહનું ઘર હોવાનો ભારતને ગર્વ છે. વિશ્વ સિંહ દિવસ નિમિત્તે હું સિંહ સંરક્ષણ પ્રત્યે ઉત્સાહ ધરાવતા સૌને મારી શુભેચ્છા પાઠવું છું. તમને એ જાણીને ખુશી થશે કે છેલ્લા કેટલાક વર્ષોમાં ભારતમાં સિંહની વસ્તીમાં સતત વધારો જોવા મળ્યો છે.
જ્યારે હું ગુજરાતના મુખ્યમંત્રી તરીકે સેવા આપતો હતો, ત્યારે મને ગીર સિંહો માટે સલામત અને સુરક્ષિત રહેઠાણોની ખાતરી કરવા માટે કામ કરવાની તક મળી હતી. ઘણી પહેલ કરવામાં આવી હતી જેમાં સ્થાનિક સમુદાયો અને વૈશ્વિક શ્રેષ્ઠ પ્રયાસો સામેલ હતા જેથી નિવાસસ્થાન સુરક્ષિત રહે અને પ્રવાસનને પણ પ્રોત્સાહન મળે. "
