 Balmer Lawrie & Co. Ltd., a Miniratna-I Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, continued to contribute to the Government of India’s vision of Viksit Bharat through its diversified operations spanning logistics, manufacturing, travel services, technology, skill development and sustainable business practices, stated shri Adhip Nath Palchaudhuri, Chairman and Managing Director, Balmer Lawrie while interacting with the media here today. 

Marking its 160th year of service and nation-building, the Company recorded a net turnover of Rs.2,78,459.58 lakh in 2025-26, registering an 8.03% growth over the previous year, while Profit Before Tax strengthening to Rs.33,086.61 lakhs, up from Rs.31,378.99 lakhs in FY 2024-25 - driven largely by the exceptional performance of the Travel & Vacations and Logistics business, which capitalised on optimised operational efficiencies.

Strengthening India’s logistics and supply-chain ecosystem, Balmer Lawrie handled 1,80,479 TEUs through its Container Freight Stations during the year and commenced transportation of finished steel products from SAIL’s Rourkela Steel Plant using BFNS 22.9-tonne wagons on long-haul routes. The Company also modernised its Industrial Packaging Plant at Chittoor, while its Chemicals SBU achieved its highest-ever turnover and profit, supporting domestic manufacturing capabilities and value creation.

Technology and innovation remained integral to the Company’s growth strategy, the CMD said adding that Balmer Lawrie initiated the SAP S/4HANA migration project “HANAMAN” to strengthen digital transformation, automation and integrated business processes. Its research capabilities also received national recognition, with a paper on sustainable grease solutions from its Applications Research Laboratory winning the Best Paper Award at the 28th NLGI-IC Lubricating Grease Conference.

As part of the Government of India’s Skill India initiative, Balmer Lawrie contributed Rs. 85 lakh towards the operational expenditure of Skill Development Institutes during 2025-26 and continued apprenticeship training under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme, he mentioned. The Company also rolled out Pragati, a women’s leadership development programme, while its CSR initiatives remained aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat, the UN Sustainable Development Goals and inclusive development, he added.
Shri Palchaudhuri said, Balmer Lawrie’s sustainability efforts included plantation of 5,270 trees at two critically polluted locations and adoption of indigenous sink reactor technology and circular scrubbing systems in its Chemicals SBU. Recognised for operational excellence, CSR and sustainability, corporate governance and inclusive workplace initiatives, the Company’s performance during 2025-26 reflects the continuing role of Central Public Sector Enterprises in strengthening India’s manufacturing, logistics, skills, technology and sustainable development ecosystem towards the broader objective of Viksit Bharat, the CMD added.
