The Prize Distribution Function of the 27^th National Youth Parliament Competition, 2025-26 for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas was held today, the 10^th September, 2026 at GMC Balayogi Auditorium, Parliament Library Building, Parliament House Complex, New Delhi.

Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju, presided over the function and distributed shields and prizes to the winning teams of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas for their meritorious performance in the Competition. The Minister congratulated the National Winner team of JNV Ukhrul-1, Manipur and other seven regional winners. 

The Minister also guided the students on the importance of Parliament as a symbol of democracy and stated that parliamentary democracy system is best suited for India, where citizens govern themselves through their elected representatives. He described the parliamentary form of democracy to be the best form of Governance in the world. He appreciated the work culture of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas which moulds the character of their students in right direction.

Secretary, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Shri Nikunja Bihari Dhal addressed the gathering and besides congratulating the winning teams, appreciated the commendable efforts made by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and other stakeholders of the programme. He further said that such programmes provide a better opportunity to students for development of their personality, critical thinking and spirit of team work.

While welcoming the Chief Guest and all other guests, Dr. Satya Prakash, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs highlighted the role of Principals / Teachers and students based on traditional Guru-Shishya Parampara to be the most critical for making Bharat Viksit by 2047.

On this occasion, the students of PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Ukhrul-1, Manipur (Shillong Region), which stood first at the National Level in the 27th National Youth Parliament Competition, 2025–26 for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, presented a repeat performance of “Youth Parliament”.

Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has been organising Youth Parliament Competitions for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas for the past 30 years. Under the scheme of the National Youth Parliament Competition for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, the 27^th Competition in the series was organized during 2025-26 among 100 Vidyalayas spread over 8 regions of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, all over India.

The Youth Parliament Scheme provides a platform for young minds from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas across the nation to converge and showcase their eloquence, critical thinking, and leadership skills. Besides, the scheme acquaints students with the practices and procedures of Parliament, techniques of discussion and debate, and helps in developing their self-confidence, leadership qualities, and the art and skill of effective oratory. This prestigious event encourages some of the brightest and most articulate students from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas to engage in spirited debates on matters of national and global significance.

In the function, “Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru Running Parliamentary Shield” and trophy for standing first at the national level were awarded to PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Ukhrul-1, Manipur (Shillong Region).
