Prime Minister Highlights Growing Role of Women in Nation Building in his Address to the Nation on 80th Independence Day

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, in his Address to the Nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day, highlighted the growing role and contribution of women in the nation’s development journey and emphasised the need to further strengthen their participation in the country’s progress.
The Prime Minister highlighted the achievements of the daughters of India and said that women are today making their presence felt in diverse fields. Referring to the changing role of women, he noted that daughters are now entering and excelling in areas that were earlier considered difficult or inaccessible for them.
Highlighting the economic empowerment of rural women, the Prime Minister said that the target of creating 3 crore Lakhpati Didis has already been surpassed. He announced that the Government has now set a new target of creating 6 crore Lakhpati Didis. He said that creating another 3 crore Lakhpati Didis would bring about a major transformation in the rural economy, powered by the economic strength of women.
The Prime Minister further highlighted the increasing participation of women in different sectors and said that the daughters of India are creating new benchmarks through their achievements. Their growing presence and contribution reflect the changing aspirations of women and their expanding role in the journey of nation-building.
The Prime Minister also called upon all parties to come together to ensure 33 per cent representation for women in the Legislative Assemblies and the Lok Sabha. He emphasised that the country’s daughters, mothers and sisters should have greater participation in decision-making and in shaping the future of the nation.
The Prime Minister’s Address to the Nation reaffirmed the importance of women’s participation, empowerment and leadership in India’s development journey and in the endeavour to build a developed India.
