India's current Active caseload (36,168) is lowest in 675 days

India’s Cumulative COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage exceeds 180.19 Cr

Recovery Rate currently stands at 98.72%

Weekly Positivity Rate is presently at 0.47%


In a significant development, India reported only 2,503 new cases in the last 24 hours, making it lowest in 680 days so far.

With this, India’s Active Caseload at 36,168 becomes lowest in 675 days. Active cases now constitute 0.08% of the country's total Positive Cases.

Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.72%. 4,377 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,24,41,449.

The last 24 hours saw a total of 5,32,232 COVID-19 tests being conducted. India has so far conducted over 77.90 Cr (77,90,52,383) cumulative tests.

There has been a sustained fall in the weekly and daily Positivity Rates too. Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 0.47% and the Daily Positivity rate is reported to be 0.47%.

On the vaccination front, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 180.19 Cr (1,80,19,45,779) as per provisional reports till 7 am today. This has been achieved through 2,10,99,040 sessions. The break-up of the cumulative figure as per the provisional report till 7 am today include:

Update on COVID-19 Vaccine Availability in States/UTs

More than 182.79 Crore vaccine doses provided to States/UTs

More than 17.38 Crore balance and unutilized vaccine doses still available with States/UTs

 

The Union Government is committed to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of COVID-19 vaccination throughout the country. The nationwide COVID 19 vaccination started on 16th January 2021. The new phase of universalization of COVID-19 vaccination commenced from 21st June 2021. The vaccination drive has been ramped up through availability of more vaccines, advance visibility of vaccine availability to States and UTs for enabling better planning by them, and streamlining the vaccine supply chain.

As part of the nationwide vaccination drive, Government of India has been supporting the States and UTs by providing them COVID Vaccines free of cost. In the new phase of the universalization of the COVID19 vaccination drive, the Union Government will procure and supply (free of cost) 75% of the vaccines being produced by the vaccine manufacturers in the country to States and UTs.

More than 182.79 crore (1,82,79,40,230) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through Govt. of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category.

More than 17.38 Cr (17,38,21,446) balance and unutilized COVID Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered.

COVID-19 Vaccination Update

Government decides to expand COVID19 Vaccination for 12-13 yrs and 13-14 yrs age groups from 16th March 2022

Condition of co-morbidity for 60+ population removed; all above 60 years now eligible for Precaution Dose of COVID Vaccine from 16th March 2022

Union Government after due deliberations with scientific bodies has decided to start COVID19 vaccination for 12-13 yr and 13-14 yr age groups (those born in 2008, 2009 and 2010. i.e. those who are already above 12 years of age) of population from 16th March 2022. The COVID19 vaccine to be administered would be Corbevax manufactured by Biological E. Limited, Hyderabad.

It is to be noted that population above 14 years of age is already being administered COVID19 vaccine under the ongoing COVID19 vaccination programme.

Government has also decided that the condition of co-morbidity for COVID19 Precaution Dose for population over 60 years of age will be removed forthwith. Hence, from 16th March 2022 onwards, the entire population above 60 years of age will be eligible for Precaution Dose of COVID19 vaccine.
