Maharashtra: The Maharashtra Government has said that patients infected with mucormycosis will be treated under the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Aarogya Yojana. Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope said the treatment charges of mucormycosis are high. Hence the state government has decided to treat patients eligible under the Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Aarogya Yojana in hospitals where the scheme is implemented.Maharashtra on Tuesday reported 28,438 new COVID-19 cases taking the cumulative total to 54,33,506. 52,898 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered patients to 49,27,480. With 679 fatalities, the death toll has risen to 83,777. The state now has 4,19,727 active cases. In a relief to Mumbaikars, the city saw less than 1000 cases today as it reported 961 cases taking the total caseload to 6,90,023. The city reported 1874 recoveries and 44 deaths today. The city now has 31,790 active cases.
Gujarat: Gujarat recorded 6,447 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. According to the state health department, 9,557 patients recovered during the last 24 hours and were discharged from the hospitals. Maximum 1862 new cases of COVID19 reported from Ahmedabad. Vadodara recorded 442 new cases, while Surat recorded 322 new cases. 67 patients lost their lives yesterday. With these, the death toll due to COVID19 in the state has reached up to 9,269. Gujarat has now 96,443 active cases at present, out of which 755 patients are on ventilator. The vaccination drive in the state has been suspended following the cyclonic storm.
Rajasthan: With cases of mucormycosis or black fungus on the rise in Rajasthan, the Rajasthan government has declared ‘Mucormycosis’disease as an epidemic. Mucormycosis has been notified as an epidemic and a notifiable disease in the state under the Rajasthan Epidemic Act 2020.Further, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has said that the arrangements for Covid treatment at the CHC and PHC level in the state should be strengthened on war footing. In the model CHCs, works like setting up of oxygen generation plants and paediatric nursing units, etc. should be completed in a timely manner, CM Gehlot said.
Madhya Pradesh: In Madhya Pradesh, Crisis Management Committees have been formed in 7292 wards of 407 Urban Development bodies to control spread of Covid-19 in the state,. Urban Development and Housing Minister Bhupendra Singh said that Committees have been formed in 884 wards of 16 corporations and their meetings are being held and corporations have become more active.
For the second consecutive day on Tuesday less than 6,000 new Covid-19 positive cases were reported in the state. A total of 5,412 new cases were reported in the state on Tuesday taking the count of cases to 7,42,718.A positivity rate of less than 8% was reported after more than one and a half months.
Chhattisgarh: In Chhattisgarh, the state government has decided to encourage the production of materials needed to control the corona infection. The Health Department has given instructions for Micro Biological Surveillance in all government and private hospitals of the state. Cases of some other type of infections have been reported in patients admitted for treatment of COVID-19 in hospitals.
In view of increasing cases of mucormycosis infection in Chhattisgarh, the State Food and Drug control Department has instructed all the whole sale drug dealers to inform the department about the distribution of the drug Posaconazole and Amphotericin-B used in mucormycosis treatment.
Goa: Goa government will take a decision about the extension of curfew in the state by Saturday, informed CM Pramod Sawant. He said the decision will be taken after assessing the situation of the state from the Collectors and Health officials. In view of the spiralling covid cases, the state government had decided to impose a 15-day curfew in the state, from May 9 to May 23.With 1,358 new cases and 3,120 recoveries active covid count of Goa has dropped to 23,946. With Goa continuing to report high recovery figure with 3,120 recoveries in last 24-hours, the recovery rate of the state now stands at 81.16 %.
Kerala:The Kerala High Court today sought an explanation from the state government for its decision to conduct the swearing-in ceremony with over 500 invitees in the capital city where triple lockdown is enforced due to Covid spread. The court sought explanation from the government while considering the petition filed against organizing the swearing-in event with such a huge participation. Meanwhile, Black Fungus infection was reported from Malappuram. The fungal infection was confirmed on a 62-year-old man from Ezhur in Tirur. His left eye was removed as there were chances of the fungal infection spreading to brain. The deadly Black Fungus was earlier reported from Kollam. State recorded 31,337 new Covid cases on Tuesday. The test positivity rate was at 23.29 %. A total of 18,62,00,107 persons have been vaccinated so far in the state. Out of this, 14,51,55,197 took first dose and 4,10,44,910 their second dose.
Tamil Nadu:Medical oxygen production resumes at Thoothukudi's Sterlite Copper plant; the oxygen production had to be stopped temporarily following a technical snag in the cold box at the oxygen plant on May 14. The Covid-19 vaccination drive for the 18-44 age group will begin on Thursday, and priority will be given to autorickshaw drivers, industry workers and the disabled, Health Minister said on Tuesday; the minister also said that Tamil Nadu received nine lakh doses of vaccines, from the Rs 46 crore-worth orders placed. E-sale of Remdesivir directly to hospitals begins in TN: according to health officials, hospitals can collect the drug after approval from the Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation following payment. Tamil Nadu logs highest number of new Covid cases in the country; on Tuesday, a total of 33,059 people tested positive, thereby taking the cumulative Covid tally to 16,64,350; 364 deaths were also reported taking the total toll in the State to 18,369. Till date 70,40,699 have been vaccinated across the State, of which 51,18,546 received first dose and 19,22,153 received second dose. Puducherry to enhance its oxygen bed capacity in next 15 days by adding 1,250 more beds, to 2,800 by June. Puducherry on Tuesday clocked 1,799 fresh cases of coronavirus, raising the overall caseload in the UT to 87,749. On the vaccination front, 33,845 health care workers and 20,432 front line workers have been inoculated so far in the UT.
Karnataka:As per the State Government bulletin released for 18-05-2021, New Cases Reported: 30,309; Total Active Cases: 5,75,028; New Covid Deaths: 525; Total Covid Deaths: 22,838. Around 65,181 were vaccinated yesterday with a total of 1,13,48,708 have been vaccinated in the state till now. State govt to set up Covid centres for kids: paediatric Covid Care Centres will be set up in each district as there are fears that children will be the worst hit during the third wave of Covid-19. The government will identify centres for the 0-6 and 7-18 age group affected by Covid-19 in each of the districts. While asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic children will be treated at ‘Fit Facilities’ attached to Covid Care Centres, serious cases will be treated at Covid-19 hospitals. Indian trial of vax on kids in 12 days: the first Indian trial of a homegrown Covid-19 vaccine on children is set to start in the next 10-12 days.
Andhra Pradesh:State reported 21,320 new Covid-19 cases after testing 91,253 samples with 99 deaths, while 21,274 got discharged during the last 24 hours. Total cases: 14,75,372; Active cases: 2,11,501; Discharges: 12,54,291; Deaths: 9580. A total of 76,29,580 doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the state as on yesterday, which include 53,49,866 first doses and 22,79,714 second doses. In the past 24 hours, the state received 620 metric tonnes of Oxygen supply from the Centre. Principal Secretary (Health) Anil Kumar Singhal said an Oxygen Express with four containers of 80 tonne capacities will reach the state by Wednesday night from Jamnagar. Similarly, two containers of 40 MT and 80 MT from Rourkela, Odisha are also expected soon. Meanwhile, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday unveiled new AP Industrial Gases and Medical Oxygen Manufacturing Policy 2021-22 with an aim to augment oxygen manufacturing capacity from the existing 360 MT to 700 MT in the State. The policy targets to set up a total 50 PSA Oxygen plants in both captive (in hospitals) and non-captive model. At present, the State’s oxygen producing capacity stands at 364 MT.
Telangana:State Government has decided to implement Ayushman Bharat scheme with immediate effect and the State Health Secretary issued orders to the CEO of the Aarogyasri Healthcare Trust to ensure the treatment of patients in empanelled hospitals across the State as per the converged scheme of Ayushman Bharat-PMJAY-Aarogyasri. The State Health Department has issued show cause notices to four private hospitals for charging exorbitant amount for Covid treatment; permission of one hospital to treat Covid patients has been cancelled. Director of State Public Health Dr.G.Srinivasa Rao said the number of Covid-19 cases in the state is showing a downward trend. He said the house-to-house survey conducted by the State Health Department has found 3.54 Lakh people with Covid symptoms and they have been given Home Isolation Kits. Meanwhile, as many as 3,982 new Covid infections and 27 fatalities were reported in the state yesterday taking the cumulative number of deaths to 3,012 and the total number of positive cases to 5,36,766. The number of active cases in the state now stands at 48,110. Covid vaccination drive could not take place in the state yesterday also due to shortage of vaccines.
Punjab: The total number of patients tested Positive is 511652. Number of active cases is 72277. Total Deaths reported is 12317. Total COVID-19 Vaccinated with 1st dose (Healthcare + Frontline Workers) is 831082. Total COVID-19 Vaccinated with 2nd dose (Healthcare + Frontline Workers) is 240821. Total above 45 Vaccinated with 1st dose is 2605701. Total above 45 Vaccinated with 2nd dose is 436075.
Haryana: Total Number of Samples found positive till date is 709689. Total active COVID-19 patients are 75914. Number of deaths is 6923. Cumulative number of people vaccinated till date is 5011317.
Chandigarh: Total Lab confirmed COVID-19 cases are 56513. Total number of Active Cases is 7035. Total number of COVID-19 deaths till date is 647.
Himachal Pradesh: Total number of patients tested COVID positive till date is 166678. Total number of Active Cases is 34888. Total deaths reported till date is 2447.
Assam:The COVID-19 positivity rate in Assam fell for the second day on Tuesday. The positivity rate is 6.47 per cent on Tuesday against 6.99 per cent on Monday. 73 people died of the virus on Tuesday when as many as 5,835 new cases were detected in the State. The Union Ministry of Health & Family Welfare on Tuesday said that Assam and Nagaland have witnessed a decreasing trend of Covid-19 positivity rate.
Extending cooperation to Meghalaya in its fight against Covid-19, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma told his Meghalaya counterpart Conrad K. Sangma that the current mechanism of supplying 12-16 metric tonnes of medical oxygen to Meghalaya from the oxygen generation plants and storage points of Assam will continue without interruption as long as the situation permits.
Manipur:Covid claims 20 more lives, infects 623 others in last 24 hrs. Recognizing the critical importance of oxygen supply during the second wave of Covid-19, Government of Manipur will set up Oxygen generator plants at Tamenglong District Hospital campus with a refuelling capacity upto 200 d types cylinder which is expected to come up within the next 6 to 8 weeks under the Tribal Affairs and Hills Department said Armstrong Pame, DC of Tamenglong and the chairman of the District Task Force.
A total of 318586 people have been administered COVID-19 vaccine in Manipur.
Meghalaya:The state registereed its highest single-day spike of 906 fresh cases taking the active tally past the 5,000-mark on Tuesday.The state also recorded a new high of 470 recoveries, while 19 deaths in the past 24 hours took the number of fatalities to 355.Meghalaya has received a total of 5,61,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine, both through central allotment and procurement basis, of which 4,26,615 doses have been utilised, leaving a balance stock of 1,34,385 doses, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Tuesday.
Sikkim:209 new Covid cases, two deaths : The State’s active Covid tally is now 3,050. Meanwhile, 94 persons inthe State recovered from Covid on Monday. At present there are 217 Covid patientsadmitted in hospitals. The Covid death toll in Sikkim since last year is 212.
Tripura: In the last 24 hours, 746 people have been infected with covid in the state, 5 people have died and 317 people have recovered. The positivity rate is 7.62%. 9789 people were tested. The west district is highest in terms of district-based infection. State government has announced a night curfew in the entire state of Tripura from May 19 from 6 pm to 5 am the next day. The night curfew will remain in force till May 26, 2021. Besides, the state government has banned travel from one district to another in the entire state of Tripura from May 20 without any urgent reason.
Nagaland:Nagaland again records highest single day spike with 365 cases. State also recorded 12 deaths on Tuesday. Active cases are 4407 and tally 18,714.Vaccination for 18-44 years age group receives good response. A total of 7298 individuals given first doses in the first two days of the exercise. Vaccination for the age group will be done on Mondays & Tuesdays.A total of 2,49,589 beneficiaries have been inoculated in Nagaland so far. The state has 1,20,343 vaccine doses available and another 30,220 will reach in next few days, as per Union Health Ministry data.
