PM Mementos Brings Sikkim’s Cultural Heritage Closer to Citizens

प्रविष्टि तिथि: 06 OCT 2026 5:44PM by PIB Delhi

The 8th edition of PM Mementos, beyond its noble cause of supporting the Namami Gange initiative, offers citizens an opportunity to connect with and own a piece of India’s diverse cultural heritage.

Among the mementos up for auction in this edition are two distinctive artefacts from Sikkim that offer a glimpse into the unique artistic heritage of the state. The inclusion of these artefacts places Sikkim’s heritage on a national platform, allowing objects that were once part of a ceremonial exchange to find a new connection with citizens and collectors.

One of the featured pieces is a finely crafted brass sculpture of Lord Buddha, which was gifted to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi by the Governor of Sikkim. The second artefact is a Tibetan Buddhist tabletop prayer wheel, or Mani Khorlo, embossed with the sacred “Om Mani Padme Hum” mantra, reflecting the artistic and spiritual ethos of the Himalayan state.

The presence of these two artefacts in this year’s auction speaks to the diversity of India’s cultural landscape. It also highlights the important role that initiatives such as PM Mementos can play as a unifying force, bringing the country’s diverse cultural traditions closer to its citizens.

The 8th edition of PM Mementos is currently live and has been extended until 31 October 2026. Proceeds from the auction will support the Namami Gange Project. Interested bidders can place their bids online through the official PM Mementos e-Auction portal: https://pmmementos.gov.in
