SAMAVESH UTSAV to Celebrate Inclusion, Empowerment and Progress of DNT Communities


Event to Showcase Success Stories under the SEED Scheme and the Traditional Skills, Craftsmanship and Products of DNT Artisans

Around 700 Community Members, Leaders, Artisans and Beneficiaries Expected to Participate

The Development and Welfare Board for De-notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Communities (DWBDNC), under the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, is organizing “SAMAVESH UTSAV” at Bhim Hall, Dr. Ambedkar International Centre (DAIC), in the National Capital tomorrow.

The event will be graced by Dr. Virendra Kumar, Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment and Shri B. L. Verma, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment. Senior representatives of the DWBDNC, including Members Shri Bharatbhai Babubhai Patni and Shri Pravin Shivajirao Ghuge, will also grace the occasion.

Around 700 members of DNT communities, including community leaders, artisans and beneficiaries, are expected to participate in the event.

 

The event is part of initiatives to ensure inclusion, empowerment and progress of De-notified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic (DNT) communities.  

The stalls of DNT artisans and the Bharat-TULIP Heritage Store, will be set up during the event. The success stories under the Scheme for Economic Empowerment of DNTs (SEED), along with the traditional skills, craftsmanship and products of artisans belonging to these communities, will remain other features of the event. The other initiatives undertaken by the Central Government for the welfare of DNT communities, will also be highlighted.

To implement welfare and development programmes the Central Government constituted The Development and Welfare Board for De-notified, Nomadic, and Semi-Nomadic Communities (DWBDNC) through a notification dated 21st February 2019.

The Government subsequently launched the Scheme for Economic Empowerment of DNTs (SEED) to support the holistic welfare of DNT communities in the areas of education, health, livelihood and housing. The scheme is being implemented in eight States—Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh where DNT certificates are being issued by the respective State Governments.
