Innovation, entrepreneurship and timely institutional support have empowered many aspiring entrepreneurs to establish businesses that contribute to India's economic growth and sustainable development. One such inspiring example is Smartgreen Aquaculture Private Limited, a company based in Ranga Reddy District, Telangana, founded by Scheduled Caste entrepreneur Mr. Aditya Rithvik Narra. His entrepreneurial journey reflects the transformative impact of the Venture Capital Fund for Scheduled Castes (VCF-SC) under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
Smartgreen Aquaculture Private Limited has established a state-of-the-art fish farming facility for Rainbow Trout using the advanced Recirculatory Aquaculture System (RAS). The project has a total water circulation capacity of 36 lakh litres and an annual fish production capacity of 360 tonnes. The company has developed dedicated hatchery and grow-out units equipped with commercial-grade machinery, process-driven operations, species-specific engineering and advanced biosecurity systems, making it one of the country's pioneering sustainable aquaculture facilities. Recognising the project's potential, the Venture Capital Fund for Scheduled Castes extended financial support of ₹15 crore in 2022 through venture capital assistance comprising equity and optionally convertible debentures.

Mr. Aditya Rithvik Narra, Director
The financial assistance enabled the company to establish India's first advanced RAS-based Rainbow Trout farming facility, construct modern grow-out units and harvesting tanks, procure specialised aquaculture equipment, strengthen scientific fish farming and monitoring capabilities, and promote research and development in the aquaculture sector.
The impact of the intervention has been significant. Today, the enterprise has generated employment for 25 people, created assets worth ₹40 crore, achieved a net worth of ₹8 crore, and established business linkages with international aquaculture experts, hatchery suppliers, equipment providers and fish markets. The project has also introduced sustainable aquaculture practices that strengthen India's fisheries ecosystem while creating livelihood opportunities in rural areas.
