IndiaAI Mission and NHA Felicitate Winners of AB PM-JAY Auto-Adjudication Hackathon Showcase 2026
Nine innovators recognised for pioneering AI solutions in health claims management at IISc Bengaluru

The IndiaAI Mission in collaboration with the National Health Authority (NHA) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, felicitated the winners of the AB PM-JAY Auto-Adjudication Hackathon Showcase 2026 at IISc Bengaluru on May 9, 2026, marking the conclusion of a two-day national showcase of AI-driven innovation in public health insurance.
Organised in collaboration with the NHA and IISc Bengaluru, the hackathon focused on developing solutions to improve speed, transparency and accuracy in claims adjudication, while strengthening fraud detection as well.
Shri Sunil Kumar Barnwal, CEO, National Health Authority; Shri Abhishek Singh, Director General, National Testing Agency, Ms. Jyoti Yadav, Joint Secretary, NHA and Ms. Shikha Dahiya, Joint Director, MeitY, felicitated innovators whose solutions have the potential to transform AI-driven adjudication of claims.

The hackathon invited solutions across three high-impact problem statements critical to the adjudication of claims under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY), one of the world's largest publicly funded health assurance programmes. AB PM-JAY processes a large number of claims daily across 1,900+ treatment packages.

Hackathon Winners
Problem Statement 1: Clinical Document Classification & STG Compliance
Automatically reading mixed-quality healthcare documents, extracting key data, detecting mandatory visual elements and checking compliance with Standard Treatment Guidelines (STG) provided by NHA.
- Winner: Shri Vinay Babu Ulli
- Runner-Up: Ms. Khushi Singh
- Second Runner-Up: Shri Vijay Balaji
Problem Statement 2: Radiological Image-Based Condition Detection & Report Correlation
Validating image-based investigations such as X-rays, CT scans and MRIs submitted as evidence under STGs, comparing them with reports to adjudicate claims accurately and efficiently.
- Winner: Shri Harish Kumar
- Runner-Up: Shri Bharath Varma Sangaraju
- Second Runner-Up: Shri Arnold Sachith
Problem Statement 3: Document Forgery & Deepfake Detection
Detecting forged or synthetically generated documents including tampered discharge summaries, manipulated bills, ghost identities and AI-generated artefacts at the point of claim submission.
- Winner: Shri Praveen Sridhar
- Runner-Up: Shri Nikhileswara Rao Sulake
- Second Runner-Up: Shri Sumanth Naidu Mathireddy
Winning teams received cash prizes of ₹5 Lakh, ₹3 Lakh and ₹2 Lakh, respectively. Officials said selected solutions could be considered for future deployment within the AB PM-JAY ecosystem.
