Government Boosts Renewable Energy Awareness Nationwide

The Government implements nationwide awareness programmes on renewable energy (RE) via its websites, social media, mobile application, advertisements utilising communication media like print, outdoor, television, radio, etc. through CBC and its empanelled agencies, National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC), Door darshan, All India Radio (AIR), State Nodal Agencies (SNAs), academic institutions, and national exhibitions.
Funds are provided to the State Nodal Agency/Discoms to carry out IEC activities in their states including rural and remote areas. During the FY 25-26 funds to 27 states/UTs have been given. Promotional activities such as hoardings/banners, print ads, radio jingles, melas, Surya Rath, etc. have been used by various State Nodal Agencies/DISCOMs to create widespread awareness of all schemes of MNRE. In addition to this, ministry carries out several review meetings, capacity building workshops and public awareness programs throughout the country from time to time.
Reputed educational institutes such as IIT Bombay, Delhi and Roorkee , National Skill Development Institutes (NSTIs) ,Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD), National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), Skill Council of Green Jobs (SCGJ) and other Sector Skill Council (SSCs) etc. are being involved in renewable energy awareness through curriculum support or special programmes. Some of them are as under:-
- Jal Urjamitra programme by IIT Roorkee
- Skilled manpower for Green Hydrogen Sector programme by DGT through NSTIs and ITIs, NIESBUD, NISE, SCGJ and other SSCs.
- M. Tech program in Renewable Energy in Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar
- Collaboration with Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) for a joint M. Tech. program on 'Green Energy and Sustainable Development'
