Daily Recoveries Outnumber Daily New Cases for 9th Consecutive Day
- With more than 20.66 Lakh tests conducted in the last 24 hours, India has again set a new record of highest tests conducted in a day. This is also the fourth successive day of more than 20 lakh tests in India.
- The daily positivity rate has declined to 12.45%.
- Cumulatively, 20,66,285 tests conducted in the last 24 hours in the country.
- India’s Daily Recoveries continue to outnumber the Daily New Cases for the ninth consecutive day. 3,57,630recoveries were registered in the last 24 hours.
- In another positive development, India has recorded less than 3 lakh Daily New cases for six consecutive days now.
- 2,57,299DailyNew Cases were registered in the last 24 hours.
- Ten States reported 78.12% of the new cases in last 24 hours.Tamil Nadu has reported the highest daily new cases at 36,184, followed by Karnataka with 32,218new cases.

More than 21 crore vaccine doses provided to States/UTs
Implementation of the Liberalized and Accelerated Phase-3 Strategy of Covid-19 Vaccination has started from 1st May 2021.
Under the Strategy, in every month 50% of the total Central Drugs Laboratory (CDL) cleared vaccine doses of any manufacturer would be procured by Govt. of India. It would continue to make these doses available to the State Govts totally free of cost as was being done earlier.
Government of India has so far provided, both through the free of cost category and through direct state procurement category, more than 21 crore vaccine doses (21,33,74,720) to States/UTs.

Cumulative Vaccine Coverage exceeds 19.32 Crore
The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country exceeded 19.32 Cr (19,32,97,222) as per the 8 pm provisional report yesterday.
6,63,353 beneficiaries of the age group 18-44 years received their first dose of COVID vaccine and cumulatively 92,73,550 across 37 States/UTs since the start of Phase-3 of the vaccination drive.

Update on COVID Relief Aid
Government of India has been receiving international cooperation of COVID-19 relief medical supplies and equipment since 27th April 2021 from different countries/organisations. These are being expeditiously dispatched/delivered to the States and UTs to supplement their efforts towards COVID19 management.
Cumulatively, 16,530 Oxygen Concentrators; 15,901 Oxygen Cylinders; 19 Oxygen Generation Plants; 11,416 ventilators/ BiPAP; ~6.6 L Remdesivir vials delivered/ dispatched through road and air, from 27th April 2021 to 21th May 2021.

Fresh allocation of Amphotericin B in view of rising Mucormycosis cases - Shri Sadananda Gowda
Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Shri D.V Sadananda Gowda announced that after a detailed review of rising number of cases of Mucormycosis in various states, a total of 23680 additional vials of Amphotericin- B have been allocated to all States/UTs today.
He also informed that the allocation has been made based on total number of patients which is approximately 8848 across the country.

Oxygen Expresses deliver nearly 14500 MT of Liquid Medical Oxygen in more than 884 tankers by 224 Oxygen Expresses to the Nation
Indian Railways is continuing its journey of bringing relief by delivering Liquid Medical Oxygen(LMO) to various states across the country. So far, Indian Railways has delivered nearly 14500 MT of LMO in more than 884 tankers to various states across the country.
It may be noted that 224 Oxygen Expresses have completed their journey so far and brought relief to various States.
Till the time of this release, 8 loaded Oxygen Expresses on run with more than 563 MT of LMO in 35 tankers.
Oxygen Expresses have been delivering more than 800 MT of LMO to the Nation each day now.

A high-level meeting with States / UTs to discuss conduct of Class XIIth exams and professional courses entrance exams tomorrow
A High-level virtual meeting will be convened tomorrow with all the States/UT Education Ministers, Education Secretaries and Chairpersons of State Examination Boards and stakeholders to discuss the proposals for the conduct of exams for Class XII and entrance examinations for professional courses.
The meeting will be chaired by Union Defence Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh in the presence of Union Minister for Education Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank', Union Minister for Women and Child, Smt. Smriti Zubin Irani and Union Minister Information and Broadcasting, Shri Prakash Javadekar.
In a letter written by the Union Education Minister Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ to States/UTs, he has stated that the Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education and CBSE are exploring options regarding the conduct of examinations, keeping in mind the safety and security of the students and the teachers. The Department of Higher Education is also deliberating upon the finalization of the dates of examinations for institutions of higher learning.

Ministry of Road Transport & Highways Asks States / UTs to create a pool of trained drivers for transporting "Hazardous Cargo" due to an increase in the need for transportation of Liquid Oxygen (LOX)
During the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, major focus has been on quick and smooth transportation of Liquid Oxygen (LOX) to various parts of the country. In this regard, it has been brought out by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways that as per extant rules and in consonance with the CMVR, 1989, ONLY trained drivers with adequate training and having ‘hazardous cargo’ license are allowed to operate the Liquid Oxygen (LOX) trucks. Therefore, there is an urgent need to make available a large pool of trained drivers who can supplement / replace the existing drivers, keeping in mind 24x7 operations.
In this context, the Ministry has advised states & Union Territories to create a pool of trained drivers and 500 such trained drivers are to be made available immediately and the number of drivers to be increased to 2500 in the next two months.

Government invites R&D proposals on Critical Components and Innovations in Oxygen Concentrators
A new initiative by the government will soon catalyze R&D on critical components and innovations concerning Make-in-India Oxygen Concentrators to meet the emerging healthcare requirements to combat the COVID 19 epidemic.
This initiative involves invitation for proposals from scientists from educational and research institutes/ laboratories, universities, and medical institutions, start-ups, and industries by Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), a statutory body of Department of Science and Technology (DST), to investigate and innovate in the development of (individual/portable) oxygen concentrators.

DST funded start-up’s Electrochemical ELISA test would help rapid & accurate estimation of total antibody concentration of COVID 19
A Bangalore-based start-up has developed a novel, point-of-care Electrochemical ELISA test that enables fast and accurate estimation of total antibody concentration of COVID 19 in clinical samples.
PathShodh Healthcare, the start-up incubated at the Society for Innovation and Development (SID), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), has made a very significant breakthrough to develop the first of its kind, semi-quantitative Electrochemical ELISA test for COVID-19 IgM and IgG antibodies. While Qualitative analysis detects constituent elements in the sample, semiquantitative analysis gives an approximate estimation of their concentrations. PathShodh has received the license to manufacture for sale from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), after validation at Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI), Faridabad, as per the requirements of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

Maharashtra: Maharashtra government has launched the "Mission Oxygen Self-Reliance" scheme to meet the state's oxygen needs. Special incentives will be given to oxygen producing industries under this scheme.At present the state's oxygen generation capacity is 1300 MT per day. In order to meet the increasing demand, state government has declared some incentives to meet the target of producing 3000 MT of oxygen per day. Only those applying before June 30 will get the benefits of this policy.
Gujarat: Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, after discussions with cabinet members and academics, has announced merit-based progress in the government, non-government and aided universities and colleges in the state to the nine and a half million students of the current academic session. Students of medical and para-medical students will not get the benefit. Number of corona patients in the 1200 bed Civil Covid Hospital in Ahmedabad has come down by 50 %. The number of active cases in the state is 84,421. So far 9469 have lost their lives. So far 7,80,471 people have been infected with Corona in Gujarat, out of which 6,86,581 have recovered.
Rajasthan: Two days after declaring mucormycosis an epidemic, the health department on Friday capped admission and treatment charges for patients suffering from the disease at private hospitals. Disease will also be covered under the Chiranjeevi Yojna insurance scheme for free treatment. NABH accredited hospitals can charge patients with moderate sickness Rs 5,500 per day for being kept in isolation bed with oxygen, Rs 8,250 for patients with severe sickness who will use ICU beds without ventilators and Rs 9,900 for patients with very severe sickness who will use ICU beds with ventilators.
Dip in daily infections continued on Friday as the state witnessed 6,225 Covid-19 cases.
Madhya Pradesh: 'Black Fungus' has been declared as an epidemic in Madhya Pradesh. State Health Commissioner Akash Tripathy said that there are 610 cases of Black Fungus in the state, and 36,000 vials of injection Amphotericine-B are required for their treatment. 190 of these patients are in Bhopal hospitals.There will be strict lockdown In Indore as well as Bhopal for the next 10 days. State government has ruled out any concession in lockdown till 31st May.There were 4384 Corona infection cases in the state yesterday. Infection rate in the state has gone down to below 5%, however the death rate continues to be high. In rural areas the positivity rate is 3% where positivity in urban areas is at 4%. Not a single patient died in 27 districts of the state on Friday. At present, there are 67,625 active patients in the state. Of these, about 65% is in home isolation.
Chhattisgarh: State's average positivity rate has now reached 8%.
State Government in association with NGOs and social organizations is disseminating valuable information on prevention of corona infection and also motivate people on Covid vaccination. In Bhilai, women self-help groups under the National Livelihood Mission are playing an important role in the vaccination of people. In Rajnandgaon district, teams have been formed comprising Kotvaar, Village Patel, Panchayat Secretary, Anganwadi workers and teachers as well as other local people at polling station level to get control of corona infection. These teams are motivating villagers for vaccination as well as Covid Appropriate behavior. All Tibetan refugees residing in Mainpat, popularly known as Shimla of Chhattisgarh, have got the Covid vaccine.
Goa:To treat black fungus cases, State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane announced a dedicated 20 bedded ward at Goa Medical College. The facility is to be ramped up with a 60 bedded Pediatric ICU & a full-fledged MICU. Expert Committee has been constituted to manage the anticipated 3rd wave of Covid-19. It will include Dr. Jagdish Cacodkar as Secretary, Dr. Shivanand Bandekar as Chairman, Dr. Jose D’Sa as Vice Chairman & five other members.
Punjab: The total number of patients tested Positive is 528676. Number of active cases is 63470. Total Deaths reported is 12888. Total COVID-19 Vaccinated with 1st dose (Healthcare + Frontline Workers) is 848290. Total COVID-19 Vaccinated with 2nd dose (Healthcare + Frontline Workers) is 243458. Total above 45 Vaccinated with 1st dose is 2668693. Total above 45 Vaccinated with 2nd dose is 442469.
Haryana: Total Number of Samples found positive till date is 728607. Total active COVID-19 patients are 54397. Number of deaths is 7317. Cumulative number of people vaccinated till date is 5202934.
Chandigarh: Total Lab confirmed COVID-19 cases are 57737. Total number of Active Cases is 5675. Total number of COVID-19 deaths till date is 680.
Himachal Pradesh: Total number of patients tested COVID positive till date is 175384. Total number of Active Cases is 31519. Total deaths reported till date is 2638.
