Issues a notice to the Haryana Chief Secretary and Faridabad Police Commissioner, calling for a detailed report on the matter within two weeks
The report expected to include the status of the investigation of the case, health of the injured as well as compensation, if any, provided to him and the NoK of the deceased

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), India has taken suo motu cognizance of a media report that on 11th August 2026, one person died and another got injured after inhaling toxic gases while cleaning a manhole at a factory in Sector-25 of Faridabad district, Haryana. Reportedly, they descended into the manhole without any safety equipment.
The Commission has observed that the contents of the news report, if true, raise serious issues of violation of human rights. Therefore, it has issued a notice to the Haryana Chief Secretary and Faridabad Police Commissioner, calling for a detailed report on the matter within two weeks. The report is expected to include the status of the investigation, health of the injured, as well as compensation, if any, provided to him and the NoK of the deceased.
According to the media report, carried on 11th August 2026, the workers were called by the factory owner to clean the manhole.
