Under Centrally Sponsored Scheme National Ayush Mission (NAM), as per the proposals received from State / UT Governments through their State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs), 12500 units of existing Ayush Dispensaries and Sub Health Centres (SCs) have been upgraded for operationalisation as Ayush Health & Wellness Centres, now renamed as Ayushman Arogya Mandir (Ayush) [(AAM(Ayush)]. The State/UT-wise status of approved and functional AAM (Ayush) is furnished at Annexure-I. Further, State/UT-wise status of Public health facilities offering Ayush OPD services in the country is furnished at Annexure-II.
As per the operational guidelines, AAM (Ayush) were approved with an objective to establish a holistic wellness model based on Ayush principles and practices (Yoga therapy, Ayurveda consultations, Naturopathy treatments, etc.) focusing on preventive, promotive, curative, rehabilitative healthcare by establishing integration with existing public healthcare system to provide informed choice to the needy public by making Ayush services available in a team based approach including involvement of field level workers specially ASHAs etc. As reported by States/UTs, the footfall of the beneficiaries visiting to the AAM (Ayush) has been subsequently increased after upgradation of Ayush Dispensaries/Sub health centres into AAM (Ayush) because in addition to OPD services, these facilities are also providing various other services like Prakriti Parikshan, Yoga related activities at the level of facility as well as community and awareness about uses of common medicinal plants etc.
There are NABH assessment and also third party review besides visit by the Central team in different States/UTs to ensure quality, accreditation, training of Ayush practitioners deployed at these centres and monitoring of the implementation progress of different activities/services being provided by operational AAM (Ayush). Further, State/UT Governments have been suggested by the visiting team for appropriate training & capacity building of AAM (Ayush) team, strengthening of referral linkages with other public health facilities, effective involvement of field level workers specially ASHAs etc. for better outcome of the activities being conducted through AAM (Ayush).
Under NAM, consolidated funds are released to the State/UT Governments against the proposals submitted through SAAPs, as per provisions of the NAM guideline. Financial assistance is allocated at a unit cost of Rs.16.22 lakhs per Ayush Dispensaries & Rs.15.744 lakhs per Sub-Centres for upgrading them into AAM (Ayush).
