The Vice President, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar has greeted fellow citizens on the eve of Ugadi, Gudi Padava, Chaitra Sukladi, Cheti Chand, Navreh and Sajibu Cheiraoba. Following is the text of his message:

“I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to all our citizens on the auspicious occasion of Ugadi, Gudi Padava, Chaitra Sukladi, Cheti Chand, Navreh and Sajibu Cheiraoba.

Known by different names in different parts of India, these festivals mark the beginning of our traditional New Year and usher in the same with a spirit of joy and togetherness across the country. These festivals, unique in form but one in essence, are yet another testament to the richness of our composite culture.

May the new year bring happiness, peace and prosperity to all.

Following is the Hindi translation of his message:

"उगादी, गुड़ी पड़वा, चैत्र शुक्लादि, चेती चाँद, नवरेह और साजिबु चेरोबा के पावन अवसर पर मैं अपने सभी देशवासियों को हार्दिक बधाई और शुभकामनाएं देता हूं।

भारत के विभिन्न हिस्सों में अलग-अलग नामों से मनाए जाने वाले ये त्यौहार हमारे पारंपरिक नव वर्ष की शुरूआत के प्रतीक हैं और पूरे देश में खुशी और एकजुटता की भावना का संचार करते हैं। ये उत्सव, रूप में अद्वितीय लेकिन सार में एक हैं, हमारी सामासिक संस्कृति की समृद्धि का एक और प्रमाण हैं।

मैं कामना करता हूं कि नया साल सभी के लिए खुशहाली, शांति एवं समृद्धि लेकर आए।"
