The ICAR–Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (ICAR-CIRCOT), Mumbai, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with M/s. Trust ARS Rubber Private Limited, Chengalpattu, on 22 October 2026, for the technology transfer of "Protective Gloves for Cotton Picking Workers."
This technology transfer is expected to facilitate commercialization and ensure wider availability of the gloves, directly benefiting cotton farmers and agricultural workers. By promoting the adoption of suitable protective equipment, the initiative aims to reduce hand injuries, improve working conditions, and foster safer harvesting practices, contributing significantly to the overall well-being of agricultural labourers.

The technology was developed to enhance the safety and protection of cotton-picking workers during harvesting operations. The specially designed gloves protect workers’ hands against injuries caused by sharp cotton bracts while ensuring flexibility and comfort. Additionally, their reusable and durable construction makes them well-suited for repeated use under demanding agricultural field conditions.
The collaboration marks an important step toward strengthening industry–research partnerships and translating ICAR-CIRCOT’s technological innovations into practical solutions for the agricultural sector. Through this partnership, ICAR-CIRCOT reaffirms its commitment to developing and transferring need-based technologies that address field-level challenges, enhance occupational safety, and improve livelihoods across the cotton value chain.
