In a significant step towards realizing the vision of a Suposhit, Surakshit and Sashakt Bharat as the foundation for Viksit Bharat@2047, the Ministry of Women and Child Development will host its Departmental Summit on 8th and 9th October 2026 at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, New Delhi. The Summit is the second in the series of Departmental Summits envisioned by Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi to strengthen cooperative federalism, foster collective ownership of national priorities, and accelerate outcomes through closer Centre-State collaboration.

The Departmental Summit model brings together political leadership and senior officials from the Union and State Governments to deliberate on sectoral priorities, share good practices, address implementation challenges, and agree on time-bound actions for improved governance and service delivery.

The two-day Summit will focus on four themes:

  • Reimagining Anganwadi Centres for better nutrition and early education
  • Strengthening the protection system for vulnerable children
  • Women safety through effective implementation of institutional and legislative frameworks
  • Women empowerment through enhancing the effectiveness and outcomes of key schemes.

First-day discussions will cover the quality of Take-Home Ration and Hot Cooked Meals, Poshan Tracker data quality improvement, Early Childhood Care and Education, protection systems for vulnerable children including the impact of social media, and implementation challenges and solutions for women safety. The second day will be devoted to enhancing the effectiveness and outcomes of key schemes for women empowerment.

Participating States will share their experiences, challenges and their best practices, and try to arrive at consensus on agreed outcomes, reinforcing spirit of cooperative federalism and shared responsibility. The key outcomes and action plans to achieve these will be presented before the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, during the valedictory session. The Prime Minister's guidance is expected to galvanise the collective resolve of the Centre and States and set the course for decisive and time-bound action on the agreed outcomes.
