A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been exchanged between Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), to institutionalize a mechanism for sharing relevant data for the development and strengthening of the Statistical Business Register (SBR).

The MoU was signed by Dr. Rajneesh, Additional Secretary & Development Commissioner, Ministry of MSME and Dr. Dalip Singh, Additional Director General, MoSPI, in the presence of senior officers from Ministry of MSME and MoSPI.

 

Objectives of the MoU:-

-The MoU sets the terms and understanding between the Ministry of MSME and MoSPI in relation to the sharing of unit-wise data of the Udyam Registration available with MSME  Department through APIs. The two-way API shall provide data for preparation of National Statistical Business Register (NSBR).

-The MoU will facilitate a structured framework for sharing relevant information from the Udyam Registration ecosystem of the Ministry of MSME with MoSPI. The information will contribute to improving the coverage, consistency and reliability of business information used for statistical purposes.

 

Statistical Business Register (SBR): An Overview

-The Statistical Business Register (SBR) is a central and regularly updated database of registered statistical units engaged in economic activities within a defined geographical territory.
It captures businesses, enterprises, establishments & other relevant economic units, key characteristics of economic units and relationships between different units.

- The SBR serves as foundational infrastructure for the economic statistics system to improve the coverage, consistency and reliability of business information by identifying the target population for economic surveys, supporting survey sample selection, enabling the production of business demography statistics, providing a common framework for business demography-related information, and facilitating integration and consistency across different data sources.
