Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Ministry of Communications, is organising an Investors’ Meet in Bengaluru, under the leadership of Union Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, along with Dr. Mohan Yadav, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh to further strengthen industry participation and attract investment in Asia’s first Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) being established in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. The engagement builds on the strong investment momentum generated through investor engagements held in New Delhi and Mumbai.

The Bengaluru Investors’ Meet will bring together leading telecom manufacturers, technology companies, electronics and component manufacturers, investors, infrastructure providers and other key stakeholders from across the telecom ecosystem. The engagement will focus on unlocking investment opportunities, strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities, promoting innovation and creating a globally competitive telecom manufacturing ecosystem in the country. A very attractive incentive package has been announced to encourage investment under TMZ to boost India’s share in Telecom manufacturing. The package has been designed with inputs of industry.

The Bengaluru Investors’ Meet follows the successful investor engagements held in New Delhi and Mumbai. The Investors’ Roundtable meets in New Delhi and Mumbai have resulted in investment commitments of ₹5,500 crore with the potential to generate nearly 18,000 employment opportunities.

The Bengaluru engagement is expected to further build on this investment momentum by connecting the TMZ initiative with the city’s strong technology, electronics, telecom and innovation ecosystem. The interaction will provide an opportunity for industry leaders and investors to explore opportunities for manufacturing, research and development, technology partnerships, supply-chain integration and employment generation through the Telecom Manufacturing Zone.

The establishment of the Telecom Manufacturing Zone is a significant step towards advancing the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat in the telecommunications sector. The initiative seeks to strengthen domestic value chains, reduce import dependence, promote indigenous design and manufacturing, boost exports and position India as a trusted global hub for telecom products and next-generation technologies.

The Government has set an ambitious vision of transforming India from a telecom service provider into a global telecom product manufacturing and innovation hub. The Bengaluru engagement marks another important step towards translating this vision into concrete investments, manufacturing capacity, technological innovation and employment opportunities.

About Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ), Gwalior

The proposed Telecom Manufacturing Zone (TMZ) in Gwalior is envisaged as an integrated 170-acre plug-and-play industrial cluster for telecom manufacturing, R&D and innovation, covering mobile devices, optical fibre, telecom equipment and next-generation 5G/6G technologies. Under the recently signed MoU, the Central Government is providing 100% funding support of ₹493 crore for Phase-I, while the Government of Madhya Pradesh has provided approximately 170 acres of land free of cost along with various investor incentives.

The Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) has been established for this purpose with a 51% equity from the Government of Madhya Pradesh and 49% from the Department of Telecommunications.
