In addition, approval for 35 road works under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)-IV worth ₹122.98 crore will also be issued, benefiting 35 rural habitations in the State.

Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin is one of the flagship schemes of the Government of India aimed at providing pucca houses with basic amenities to eligible rural households. Under PMAY-G, the Government of India has so far allocated a cumulative target of 4.15 crore houses to States and Union Territories, against which 3.91 crore houses have been sanctioned and more than 3.03 crore houses have already been completed as on 11 May 2026.

The State of Maharashtra has shown significant progress under the scheme. Against the cumulative target of 43.80 lakh houses allocated to the State, 41.42 lakh houses have been sanctioned and 17.92 lakh houses have already been completed. In Satara district, against the target of 55,052 houses, 54,759 houses have been sanctioned and 24,848 houses have been completed.

Major PMGSY-IV Approval for Maharashtra

A major approval under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)-IV will also be announced during the programme, further strengthening rural road connectivity and infrastructure development in Maharashtra.

Under PMGSY-IV (2026-27, Batch-I), approval of 35 road works covering 95.99 km at an estimated cost of ₹122.98 crore is proposed. The projects are expected to benefit 35 rural habitations in the State.

The proposed projects are aimed at improving all-weather connectivity in rural areas and enhancing access to education, healthcare, markets and essential public services. The initiative is expected to further accelerate socio-economic development and improve ease of living in rural Maharashtra.

Similarly, under PMGSY in Maharashtra, more than 34,000 km of rural roads and over 1,000 bridges have already been sanctioned with investments exceeding ₹15,000 crore, significantly improving rural connectivity across the State. Maharashtra has also undertaken extensive road construction using New & Green Technology under PMGSY, reflecting the State’s focus on sustainable and innovative rural infrastructure development.

The programme is expected to further strengthen the momentum of rural transformation initiatives being implemented by the Government of India through a combination of housing, connectivity, infrastructure and beneficiary-centric welfare interventions.
