Capacity Building Programme by National e-Governance Division on ‘Applications of AI/ML’ in collaboration with IIM Vishakhapatnam

In line with the vision of Digital India, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) continues its mission to strengthen digital governance through the Capacity Building Scheme of the National e-Governance Division (NeGD).
A 2-day training programme kickstarted on ‘Applications of AI/ML’, conducted by NeGD, MeitY, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Management, Visakhapatnam, from December 2 - 3, 2024. This program witnessed the participation of government officials from Central Line Ministries & State departments from Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Nagaland, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.
This programme underscores the critical need for developing robust infrastructure to integrate AI and ML into governance systems while ensuring data privacy and security. The training programme aims to equip officers with practical strategies for the responsible implementation of AI in governance. The curriculum focuses on navigating regulatory challenges, adhering to ethical standards and ensuring that AI applications remain explainable and privacy-compliant.
Under the Capacity Building Scheme of the Digital India Programme, this initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to creating adequate capacities at all levels. By providing need-based training, the scheme empowers officials to conceptualize, design, and implement cutting-edge e-Governance projects that drive efficiency and citizen-centricity.
NeGD’s efforts to engage with a wide range of stakeholders through such initiatives reinforces its vision of equipping government departments with the skills needed for a digitally empowered India.
