Secretary, DARE and the Director General, ICAR Dr. Himanshu Pathak launched Swachhta Hi Seva (SHS) Campaign 2024 yesterday at the Board Room of IGH, NASC Complex, where the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE) and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) organized the Swachhta Pledge. Dr. Himanshu Pathak administered the pledge in the distinguished presence of the Additional Secretary (D) & Secretary (ICAR), Deputy Director Generals of ICAR, and the ADG Coordination and other dignitaries of DARE and ICAR. Notably, all 113 research institutes and 731 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) participated in the pledge virtually, demonstrating widespread commitment to the cause.

The Swachhta Hi Seva (SHS) Campaign 2024 commenced today with a heightened emphasis on cleanliness and environmental sustainability under the theme “Swabhav Swachhata - Sanskaar Swachhata.” This year’s campaign, running from 17th September to 1st October 2024, was inaugurated with a formal Swachhta Pledge and a plantation drives ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ aimed at fostering community engagement and promoting environmental stewardship. This year also marks the 10th anniversary of the launch of the Swachh Bharat Mission, adding further significance to the campaign.

Today's activities also featured the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ plantation drive, which involved local bodies across the nation. This initiative, aimed at planting trees as a tribute to our collective environmental responsibilities, was accompanied by beautification efforts to enhance the local landscape and contribute to the ecological and aesthetic enrichment of our communities. This campaign embodies a concerted effort by DARE, ICAR, and other participating organizations to mobilize communities, elevate environmental consciousness, and reinforce the significance of cleanliness as a fundamental component of societal well-being.
