Success Stories:
15th February 2024 will be a memorable day in the life of Bhagchand Adivasi, who become the owner of first house under PM-JANMAN launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, on 15th November 2023 (Janjatiya Gaurav Divas). The house got constructed in a record period of one month, as the first instalment of the house amounting to Rs. 50,000 was released through DBT by the PM on 15th January 2024. The 2nd and 3rd instalments were released on 22nd January and 26th January 2024. The other two Sahariya community PVTG members who got their house completed are Mamta Sahariya and Mahendra Singh from Kalodhra and Dongar Gram Panchayat in Shivpuri. An amount of Rs. 2.39 lakh is provided for construction of the house. The houses include a toilet, porch and open area.
Sh. Ravendra Kumar, DM Shivpuri, informed that out of 33,088 PVTG families surveyed in district having kachcha houses. 26,368 houses have been registered on AWAS Portal with Aadhar linked bank account so as to enable direct transfer of funds. 11,712 houses have been approved and 1st instalment of Rs. 50,000 has been given to 10,549 beneficiaries who are required to complete construction till plinth with this amount. 2nd Instalment of Rs 75,000 has been paid to 5354 beneficiaries who have utilised 1st instalment and geo tagged their house on AWAS Portal. They are required to complete construction till lintel (Roof). The 3rd Instalment of Rs. 75,000 has been given to 237 beneficiaries who will complete the house with this amount. An additional amount of Rs. 39,000 is given for construction of toilet and MNREGA wages.
The house became a source of attraction and motivation for hundreds of other residents in nearby habitations, who made a beeline to see the house constructed in a record span.
Shivpuri was one of the districts where in PM had interacted with Smt. Lalita Aadivasi and Vidya Adivasi of Sahariya Tribe. DM Shivpuri informed that work in both model villages resided by Lalita and Vidya is in progress and the villagers are trying hard to get it complete in next 5 months.
BARAN is the only district in Rajasthan which is resided by Sahariya PVTG tribe with population of 1,30,068 (33, 743 families) residing in 434 Habitations spread in 149 Gram Panchayat (324 -Revenue villages) in 8 blocks of district with Kishanganj & Shahbad having major population, as per recent survey conducted by State through Tribal Welfare Department in coordination with DMs. Baran is one of the districts which has shown substantial progress in all interventions under PM-JANMAN.

(Training given by District administration in camps for PMAY houses)
(Regular review of progress by Panchayat and district authorities)
Inspired by models shown by Lalita and Vidya in Shivpuri, the communities are enthused to set up model bastis ‘Sahariya-Saharana basti’ at three places in the district in the name of Koyla Saharana, Basthuni Saharana and Sandhari Saharana in which Sahariya beneficiaries will be provided basic facilities like pucca houses as well as pucca roads, taps in every house, electricity, and Anganwadi center facility. DM Baran has shared photos of some of these bastis, where work is under fast progress.

There are several stories across country showing how a hamlet or village got electricity or water for the first time after 75 years of independence. Some of these stories are shared as under:
- Tribal hamlet in Mysuru gets power connection 75 years after independence:
A tribal hamlet on the fringes of Hediyala range of Bandipur Tiger Reserve, without electricity for generations, recently got connected to the power grid of Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC).
Given the geographical location abutting the forest periphery these 20 families were cut off from the mainstream and lived in darkness all these decades.
What is intriguing is that villages close to the hamlet had power connection but a portion of the tribal hamlet of the Jenu Kuruba community at Kothnahalli Colony was left out and it took 75 years after Independence to ensure power connection. The local Gram Panchayat member Muzib, said these 20 families have been living in sheds without power for generations. Houses were constructed for them about 15 to 20 years ago but for some reason, power supply was not provided and despite many requests power lines were not drawn to fix the issue.
2. MSEDCL supplies electricity to 2,395 tribal homes in Maharashtra in 12 days
The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has achieved a significant milestone by supplying electricity to vulnerable tribal communities in remote areas of the state within just 12 days. Under PM-JANMAN mission, the utility provided electricity to 2,395 homes of tribal families in various districts. Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Devendra Fadnavis prioritized the scheme's implementation, which began on November 15, 2023.
Among the first to be provided with power supply was the house of Ashok Dagdu Hilam of village Thangaon in Sinnar taluka of Nashik district. He said that electricity was supplied at home two days ago although he had not applied for it. The government provided the connection and subsequently 15 more families residing in his locality got electricity supply.
These motivating stories are realization of vision of the PM who had in his Independence speech from Red Fort in August 2021, given a clarion call to saturate every village and household with the schemes of Government. PM JANMAN is designed for 75 PVTG communities who have been left out by the schemes of various Ministries/Departments and therefore need to be supported through this Mission. Mission is also a unique example of cooperative federalism and whole of Government approach for welfare of the people- outreach, convergence and saturation-sabka saath- sabka vikas- sabka vishwas-sabka prayas, envisioned by the PM, where in 9 Ministries are working in convergence for the welfare of 75 most vulnerable groups in 19 states and 1 UT. These communities could not get benefits of most of the schemes of Government of India even after 75 years of independence due to remoteness of their locations, lack of awareness, lack of physical and digital connectivity and schematic norms.
