Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, today attended the 9th edition of the Northeast Students’ Fest in Talkatora Stadium, New Delhi, and interacted with students and young people from across the Northeastern states.

At the event, Shri Scindia expressed his solidarity with the people of Nepal in the wake of the devastating floods in the country. He asked everyone in the audience to stand up and observe two-minute silence in memory of the victims of the floods and prayed for those who lost their lives and expressed his condolences to their families.

Addressing the gathering, Scindia said that the Northeast Students’ Fest is a celebration of the region’s vibrant culture, creativity and youth. He highlighted the role of My Home India in fostering national integration, social harmony and youth empowerment over the past 21 years. Recalling how the initiative began as a “Home Away from Home” for students from the Northeast, Scindia said it has today evolved into a national platform where young Indians celebrate both the diversity that makes them unique and the shared bonds that unite them.

Drawing an analogy with India’s rivers, Scindia said that the Ganga, Yamuna, Saraswati and Brahmaputra emerge from different terrains and flow through distinct landscapes, yet eventually come together as one powerful force without losing their individual identities.

Calling the youth the real growth engine of the Northeast and builders of Viksit Bharat, Union minister Scindia highlighted the achievements of young talent from the region across sports, music, education, technology and innovation. He cited the achievements of Mirabai Chanu and Lovlina Borgohain as examples of the immense talent emerging from the region.

Union minister Scindia also felicitated students and participants of the dance competition at the festival and congratulated all the winners.
