National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA) conducts sixth outreach programmes with focus on small and medium auditors under the theme “Creating a Better Financial Reporting Ecosystem” in Ahmedabad


The outreach aims to support professional capacity, strengthen audit quality and improve the quality of financial reporting

The National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA) completed its sixth outreach programme at Ahmedabad recently, in a series of outreach programmes that commenced in 2025. The  programme with the theme “Creating a Better Financial Reporting Ecosystem”, was inaugurated by Nitin Gupta, Chairperson, NFRA and CA Prasanna Kumar D, President, of ICAI.

With the focus on small and medium auditors and an aim to support in professional capacity, strengthen audit quality and improve the quality of financial reporting, this was the second such outreach programme held in collaboration with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the first being at Pune in June 2026. 

Shri Nitin Gupta, Chairperson, NFRA, in his keynote address, emphasised the pivotal role of the accountancy profession in safeguarding public interest and building trust in financial reporting. Shri Gupta emphasised the need to remain aligned with contemporary global standards and called upon the audit firms to continuously enhance their competencies, including adopting appropriate technology in the audit process.

In his address, CA Prasanna Kumar D, President ICAI, stated that audit quality in financial reporting is critical for building trust and confidence among the stakeholders.

Ms Smita Jhingran, Full-Time Member, NFRA, highlighted the importance of NFRA's inspection of audit firms in ensuring high-quality financial reporting.

The experts’ sessions aimed at providing practical insights for improving audit quality in day-to-day professional work and comprised technical sessions on key aspects such as Audit Strategy Documentation, Risk of Material Mis-statements, and case studies on takeaways from NFRA's oversight.

Since this initiative was launched last year, NFRA’s outreach programmes have elicited participation from representatives of more than 450 small and medium firms.
