Higher education and professional education can open new pathways for young people to build meaningful careers and contribute to the development of the nation. However, financial constraints can often make it difficult for talented students from economically disadvantaged families to pursue quality higher education.
Demonstrating the transformative impact of educational financial assistance, Telu Jhansi Vijay Krishna, a 25-year-old student from Karnataka belongs to NC-OBC community, has been able to pursue his MBA with greater confidence and focus with support under the Top-Class Education in College for OBC, EBC and DNT Students scheme of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
Coming from a family that valued education but faced financial limitations, Vijay Krishna experienced significant financial pressure while pursuing higher education. Meeting the expenses associated with education, skill development and career preparation was a major challenge. Alongside the financial constraints, he also faced societal and mental barriers associated with pursuing higher education and an MBA from an NC-OBC background.

Despite these challenges, Vijay Krishna remained determined to develop professional and managerial skills and build a stable and impactful career. His long-term aspiration is to contribute meaningfully to India's social and economic development, particularly through business and startups. His father and family continued to encourage his academic pursuits and personal growth despite the financial limitations.
Reducing Financial Burden and Strengthening Educational Aspirations
Recognising the importance of enabling students from OBC, EBC and DNT communities to access quality higher education, financial assistance of ₹10.27 lakh was provided to Vijay Krishna under the Top-Class Education in College for OBC, EBC and DNT Students scheme on 23 April 2026.
Telu Jhansi Vijay Krishna extended his gratitude in these words,
“I am humbled to thank Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment for extending financial assistance that has helped me to continue my higher education with greater confidence and focus.”
The scholarship substantially reduced the financial burden associated with his education. According to Vijay Krishna, the assistance helped reduce nearly 50 per cent of his educational loan burden, providing much-needed financial relief and reducing the stress associated with managing the cost of higher education.
The support has enabled him to focus more confidently on his MBA and professional development. With reduced financial pressure, he is able to devote greater attention to his education and work towards his long-term career aspirations.
Reflecting on the impact of the support, Vijay Krishna expressed his gratitude to the Government of India and Hon’ble Prime Minister for extending financial assistance that has helped him continue his higher education with greater confidence and focus.
The journey of Telu Jhansi Vijay Krishna illustrates how targeted educational support can help students overcome financial barriers and pursue professional education. By reducing the financial burden of higher education, the scheme is helping young students from OBC, EBC and DNT communities strengthen their skills, pursue their aspirations and prepare themselves to contribute meaningfully to India's socio-economic development.
