Decline in Unemployment Rate Among Tribal Communities

As per the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) Reports, the estimated Unemployment Rate (UR) on usual status for tribal community was 3.4 % in 2019-20, 2.7 % in 2020-21, 2.4 % in 2021-22 and 1.8 % in 2022-23. PLFS Report provides estimates for different social groups on all India level.

The Employment generation coupled with improving employability is the priority of the Government. Accordingly, the Government of India has taken various steps for generating employment in the country.

The various Ministries/Departments of Government of India like Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Ministry of Rural Development,  Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Textile, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology etc. are implementing different employment generation schemes/programmes like Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme(MGNREGS), Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY), Rural Self-Employment and Training Institutes (RSETIs), Deen Dayal Antodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM), Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY), etc. including increase in capital expenditure to boost employment creation in the country including the state of Rajasthan. Further, Government is implementing various skill development schemes namely Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), Jan Sikhshan Sansthan (JSS), National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) and Craftsman Training Scheme (CTS) through Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the country.
