Vigilance Awareness Week 2023

The Vigilance Awareness Week is being observed by the CSIR-Structural Engineering Research Centre (CSIR-SERC), Chennai and CSIR Madras Complex (CMC), at CSIR Campus, Taramani, Chennai, during 30 October 2023 – 6 November 2023. The theme of this year’s Vigilance Awareness Week is Say no to corruption; commit to the Nation.

The observance of Vigilance Awareness Week started with the pledge taking on 30.10.2023. The pledge was administered by Dr. N. Anandavalli, Director, CSIR-SERC and Coordinating Director, CMC. A debate (Pattimandram) in Tamil was organized on 2.11.2023 on the topic “To eliminate bribery and corruption, we need to stop giving bribe or stop taking bribe”. Dr. Soma Valliyappan, a writer, speaker, trainer, and expert in the areas of Human Resource Management, Personality development was the moderator of the debate.

Dr. Anandavalli, welcomed Dr. Soma Valliyappan, and in her presidential address spoke on the importance of remaining vigilant all the time and called for the rejection of corruption in all forms. She said that if everyone is committed to the nation, corruption can easily be eliminated. DR. S.R. Balasubramanian, Senior Scientist, CSIR-SERC; Dr. T. Rajesh, Senior Scientist, CMC; Dr. D. Kalpana, Senior Principal Scientist, CMC; and Ms. K. Venkateswari, Private Secretary, CSIR-SERC, argued that we need to stop giving bribe to eliminate corruption. Shri M. Elumalai, Senior Superintending Engineer (Civil), CMC; Dr. J Prabhakar, Chief Scientist, CSIR-SERC; Shri S Rajesh Kumar, Technical Officer, CMC and Ms. R. Lakshmi Poorna, Senior Technical Officer (2), CSIR-SERC, argued that people should stop taking bribe to eliminate corruption. Around 200 employees from CSIR-SERC and CMC witnessed the debate.

In connection with the Vigilance Awareness Week, a quiz competition was also organized on 2.11.2023. A workshop on vigilance awareness and valedictory function will be held on 6th November 2023.
