Masterstrokes, Online Film Festival of Documentaries on Ray, by Ray begins tomorrow on May 2, 2020

Films Division is celebrating the Centenary of legendary film maker, Satyajit Ray (1921-1992) by organising Masterstrokes, an online film festival showcasing rare documentaries and a television film made by the master film maker alongside films on him and his oeuvre, from May 02 to 06, 2020.
The films are being showcased on Films Division website and YouTube Channel of Films Division during the period. Some of the acclaimed films being screened include Inner Eye (on Benode Behari Mukherjee, acclaimed painter), Sadgati (television film based on the short story by Munshi Premchand); Rabindranath Tagore by Satyajit Ray; Satyajit Ray by Shyam Benegal and Ray by Gautam Ghose. Schedule of films is enclosed herewith.
Ms. Smita Vats Sharma, Director General, Films Division said that it’s a special tribute to the legendary filmmaker, Satyajit Ray. Earlier this year, Films Division had also screened a specially curated commemorative package of Documentary Films made by and about Satyajit Ray during Mumbai International Film Festival 2020. While, appealing people to stay home, and stay safe, she also requested them to log-on to www.filmsdivision.org and click at “Documentary of the Week Section” and also follow its YouTube channel to watch these classics. Do spread the word among all your friends and loved ones, she added.
