CSIR-CMERI signs agreement with M/s. Tequity Ventures, Mumbai to implement technology for commercialization of CNC micro machines.

CSIR-Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute signed an agreement with M/s. Tequity Ventures, Mumbai to implement technology for commercialization of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) micro machines here in Kolkata today. Speaking to media persons, Professor, Harish Hirani, Director, CSIR-CMERI informed that these machines, equipped with new technology, are cost effective compared to imported ones. Professor Hirani added that they have applications in surgical tools as well which provide extent help to industries and jewelry industries where very small parts, features and patterns are being fabricated. These machines are very useful for MSMEs as they are cost effective and user friendly. Automation of these small scale industries by these indigenous machines will enhance quality of life and income of families by creating job opportunities for them. They are also capable of inculcating skill among students and industry personnel under Skill India initiative, he mentioned.
Professor Hirani also briefed about the new technology on water purification, designed and developed by CSIR-CMERI. He said that CSIR-CMERI, Durgapur has developed the new affordable and high flow rate community level iron removal technology to purify water for drinking as well as cooking and cleaning. This technology has filtering capacity of 15000 to 17000 liter water per day with three stage purification technology with flow rate of 3000 liter water per hour, Professor Hirani added.
