The Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, is actively implementing Special Campaign 6 from 2nd to 31st October 2026, focusing on institutionalizing Swachhata, reducing pendency, improving record management, promoting scientific disposal of e-waste and ensuring optimum utilization of office space. The Campaign is being undertaken in coordination with the Department’s subordinate offices and autonomous bodies, in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG).

During the preparatory phase, action plans and measurable targets were identified, with emphasis on cleanliness, review and weeding of redundant records, responsible waste management and expeditious disposal of pending references.

Progress under the Campaign is reviewed regularly by the Secretary (Fisheries) in meetings with senior officers. The officers are encouraged to promote Swachhata in their work places and minimize pendencies. As part of the Campaign, nodal officer of the Department inspected the office complex located at Chanderlok Building, New Delhi on 15th October 2026. The autonomous bodies and subordinate institutes and organisations under the Department of Fisheries are undertaking various activities for promoting awareness of cleanliness and efficient office management under the campaign.

As the ongoing cleanliness campaign enters its mid-phase, the Department has recorded significant progress across key areas. Out of 32 identified cleanliness campaign activities, 23 have already been successfully completed. In line with efforts to streamline record management, 400 physical files have been reviewed, of which 350 were identified for weeding and 287 files have been weeded out so far. The Department has also achieved substantial progress in grievance redressal, with 80% of public grievances resolved to date. Additionally, steps are being taken to ensure the environmentally sound disposal of electronic waste in compliance with the provisions of the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022. More than 35 social media posts have also been disseminated through the Department and its six offices to highlight campaign initiatives.

With the implementation phase continuing until 31st October 2026, the Department resolves to complete the remaining activities and achieve the targets set for various indicators including disposal of pending matters under the Special Campaign 6.
