Smt. Yatla Sravanthi, a 37-year-old resident of Karimnagar district, Telangana, successfully completed her research in Botany with financial assistance under the National Fellowship for Scheduled Caste (NFSC) Scheme. Her fellowship assistance began in 2017, and she availed support in the form of fellowship, House Rent Allowance and contingency assistance amounting to Rs. 21 lakh.

Before receiving assistance, Smt. Sravanthi faced severe financial difficulties in continuing her higher education and doctoral research. Her family’s financial situation made it difficult to meet expenses related to books, research materials, equipment and hostel accommodation. These constraints affected her ability to focus fully on her studies and research.

She also faced limited access to quality educational resources, internet facilities and appropriate academic guidance. Coming from a remote area and facing social and economic disadvantages, pursuing doctoral-level education was particularly challenging. Without financial support, she could have been compelled to take loans or interrupt her education to seek employment.
