The CSIR-Central Road Research Institute (CRRI) organized a specialized training program for engineers of the Public Works Department (PWD), Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD), at the NDMC Convention Centre. The program centered on the implementation of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) Standard Framework for the paving and greening of urban roads across the National Capital Territory.

The inaugural ceremony commenced with a traditional lamp lighting and formal welcome of dignitaries. The Director of CRRI Dr.Ch.Ravi Sekhar delivered the inaugural address alongside addresses by the Sh.Naveen Bansal, Engineer-in-Chief (EinC), PWD, and Sh. Ravi Jha, Special Secretary-2, PWD. The address underscored the critical role of scientific road design, environmental mitigation, and standard paving techniques in curbing road dust and improving Delhi's overall air quality.

The comprehensive one-day training schedule covered technical and field-level planning modules led by CRRI domain experts and Scientists including Dr. Ch. Ravi Sekhar, Dr.Sampath Kumar, Dr. K. Ravinder, Dr. E. Madhu, Dr. Mukti Advani, Dr. Minal Chandra, Dr. Chintaman Bari and Dr. Nischal Gupta.

• Framework Background & Principles: In-depth orientation on the background of paving and greening guidelines in the NCR region, principles of urban space standards, and road network planning aligned with IRC guidelines to enhance environment and safety.
• Carriageway Design & Data Formats: Technical guidance on carriageway standards for various categories of urban roads along with standard data collection formats.
• Transit & Non-Motorized Transport (NMT): Engineering benchmarks for public transport facility design, alongside dedicated standards for pedestrian walkways and non-motorized transport.
• Safety & Infrastructure Integration: Technical sessions detailing road signs and markings, as well as seamless integration of essential urban utilities—including drainage, electric utilities, telecom networks, bus stops, and gas fuel stations.

The session concluded with an interactive discussion between CRRI Scientists and participating PWD engineers to outline the operational roadmap and way forward for field-level implementation across the capital's road network.
