Inaugurates modernised Shivpuri Head Post Office as Department of Posts advances modern, technology-enabled and citizen-centric services

Union Minister for Communications and DoNER, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, today laid the foundation stone of the country’s 7th Postal Training Centre at Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh marking a significant step towards strengthening the training and capacity-building ecosystem of the Department of Posts, in line with the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for a Viksit Bharat. The new centre will serve as a national-level training facility for postal employees from Madhya Pradesh and neighbouring states, with a focus on equipping the workforce with modern skills and training in emerging technologies.

Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister for Communications and DoNER, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, said that with the establishment of the new Postal Training Centre, postal employees from Madhya Pradesh will no longer have to travel nearly 600 kilometres for training. Emphasising the importance of the Guru-Shishya Parampara, he said that the new centre reflects the Department of Posts’ commitment to strengthening learning and capacity building. He added that the centre is being developed as a modern training facility that will evolve with changing times and be equipped with new-age technologies, enabling postal employees to acquire the skills required for modern postal operations and service delivery.

The programme was also attended by Shri Pradyuman Singh Tomar, Minister for Energy, Government of Madhya Pradesh and Minister-in-Charge of Shivpuri; Shri Devendra Jain, MLA, Shivpuri; Shri Mahendra Ramsingh Yadav, MLA, Kolaras; Shri Pritam Singh Lodhi, MLA, Pichhore; Smt. Neha-Amit Yadav, Chairperson, District Panchayat, Shivpuri; Smt. Gayatri Sharma, Chairperson, Municipal Council, Shivpuri; Shri S.F.H. Rizvi, Member, Human Resource Development, Postal Services Board; Shri Vineet Mathur, Chief Postmaster General, Madhya Pradesh Circle and other senior officials of the Department of Posts, public representatives and dignitaries.

This new centre will expand the Department of Posts’ network of six Postal Training Centres at Saharanpur, Vadodara, Mysuru, Guwahati, Madurai and Darbhanga, which together train around 2,000 personnel annually. Shivpuri, strategically located in the heart of India in Madhya Pradesh- the second-largest State by area, has been chosen as a national-level training hub owing to its central location and connectivity. The centre will strengthen access to specialised, technology-enabled and new-age training, equipping postal personnel with the skills needed for the evolving demands of modern, citizen-centric postal operations and service delivery.

On the occasion, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia also inaugurated the renovated Shivpuri Head Post Office, which has been modernised in accordance with the design guidelines of the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), New Delhi. The upgraded facility focuses on enhanced citizen convenience, accessibility and improved service experience. It features Jan Sewa Connect, a multi-purpose citizen facilitation centre providing multiple services of Department of Posts at a single location, along with modern service counters, improved customer amenities and barrier-free access.

This initiative comes soon after a week ago, when Union Minister Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia inaugurated 14 Jan Sewa Connect Post Offices across the country, further advancing the Department’s vision of accessible, modern and citizen-centric postal services. The upgraded Shivpuri facility offers improved customer amenities, accessibility and a better service environment, with services including Speed Post, Savings Bank, Postal Life Insurance, Aadhaar, parcels and other postal and financial services.
