National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) has recognised the National Institute of Technical Teachers’ Training and Research (NITTTR), Kolkata, Ministry of Education, Government of India, as an Awarding Body (Dual). With this recognition, NITTTR Kolkata will be eligible to award, assess and certify the learners where training is directly being imparted by the Awarding Body in campuses or training centers owned or fully managed by it for its approved or adopted qualifications.

The agreement signing ceremony was chaired by Shri Niranjan Kumar Sudhansu, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Executive Member, NCVET. The ceremony was also attended by Lt. Col. Vikram Singh Bhati, Director, Recognition, NCVET; Lt Col Saurabh S Bisht, Director, Monitoring, NCVET; Prof. V.M.S.R. Murthy, Director, NITTTR Kolkata and Prof. Naveen BP, Professor & Head, CE, NITTTR Kolkata.

As a significant milestone, NCVET has approved the first qualification developed by NITTTR Kolkata titled “Fundamentals of Soil Testing.” This programme has been designed to provide participants with a strong foundation in soil investigation, laboratory testing procedures, interpretation of soil properties, quality control practices, and the application of Indian Standards relevant to geotechnical engineering.

The qualification aims to bridge the growing demand for skilled manpower in the construction, infrastructure, transportation, and geotechnical sectors by equipping learners with industry-relevant knowledge and practical skills. The programme also supports the national vision of strengthening technical and vocational education through competency-based training aligned with the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF).
