The Digital India BHASHINI Division (DIBD), under the Digital India Corporation (DIC), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, have signed an MoU under “BHASHINI Seva/Sanchalan - A BHASHINI Sahayogi Program” to strengthen multilingual digital capabilities across India's industry and internal trade ecosystem through the BHASHINI Platform, India's National Language Digital Public Infrastructure.

The collaboration aims to promote multilingual access, multilingual governance, and multilingual service delivery across all 22 languages recognised under the Eight Schedule of the Constitution of India within DPIIT's digital platforms, enabling greater inclusivity for entrepreneurs, startups, investors, businesses, and citizens to access information and services in their preferred languages.
Under the collaboration, DPIIT and the BHASHINI team will work towards enabling multilingual access across DPIIT platforms through initiatives including BHASHINI Udyat, Mitra, Appmitra, and Pravakta, alongside translation API integration, domain-specific language model development, multilingual glossary creation, voice-enabled technologies and linguistic dataset.
The initiative will support the development of a more inclusive investment ecosystem by reducing language barriers in access to government information, startup and industrial services, policy communication, and citizen engagement.
The collaboration will also focus on strengthening multilingual AI models and language technologies tailored to investment promotion, industrial development, innovation, and entrepreneurship-related domains enabling seamless voice-first mulitlingual across India's diverse linguistic landscape.
The discussions highlighted the growing importance of multilingual technologies in expanding access to opportunities across India's startup, manufacturing, and innovation ecosystem, ensuring that language does not remain a barrier to participation in economic growth.
The MoU will further encourage language data contributions, awareness initiatives, capacity-building efforts, and wider adoption of multilingual AI tools across institutions and stakeholders associated with DPIIT.
As part of the collaboration, DPIIT and DIBD may jointly explore and support specific initiatives aimed at strengthening multilingual digital infrastructure, promoting innovation, and expanding access to services across the investment ecosystem.
The partnership further reinforces BHASHINI's role as India's population-scale language infrastructure for inclusive, accessible, and AI-driven digital governance, while supporting the country's vision of broad-based participation in economic growth, entrepreneurship, and investment promotion.
