Launching the 14th Pension Adalat at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on 10.09.2025, Dr. Jitendra Singh lauded the initiative of conducting the Pension Adalats for its ‘whole of government approach’ by bringing together all the concerned departments on one platform for expeditious and effective resolution of grievances. He highlighted that the initiative has not only expedited grievance redressal but also reinforced the government’s commitment to pensioners as active contributors to society.
894grievances related to family pension matters pertaining to 21 Departments/Ministries belonging to the Departments under Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Home Affairs, Finance, Railways, Housing & Urban Affairs, Civil Aviation, External Affairs etc were taken up in the Adalat for redressal out of which 652 grievances were resolved on the spot underscoring the efficiency of this initiative in delivering timely justice to pensioners.
There were many heart-warming success stories which came out of the Adalat held on 10.09.2025. Excerpts of the cases are mentioned below to appreciate the struggles experienced by the Pensioners and how the mechanism of Pension Adalat enabled them to get their long-pending rightful dues.
Smt Mevla Devi
Smt Mevala Devi is a 65-year-old widow from Kalyanpur, UP. Her husband, the late Sh. Badri Prasad, retired from the Field Gun Factory, Kanpur, on March 31, 2017. The grievance was regarding non-payment of his gratuity, pending since his death on September 20, 2020. It was apprised by the O/o CGDA and PCDA, MoD in the Adalat thatthe issue has been resolved with a payment of pension arrears of Rs 8.75 lakhs.
Smt Girraji Devi
Smt Girraji Devi, aged 84 years from UP is spouse of Late Sh. Harbir Singh who retired on 30/09/1992 from 523 GREF, Assam Rangapura. The grievance relates to non-payment of additional pension after attaining the age of 80 years, pending since February 2021. It has been assured by the State Bank of India where the matter was pending that her case has been resolved and arrears for the amount Rs 1.38 lakhs will be paid to her at the earliest.
Shri Sohan Singh
Shri Sohan Singh isan ex Sepoy from Rajasthan who is requesting the credit of unpaid arrears for the period from January 1, 2006, to August 31, 2023. It was apprised by the O/o CGDA and PCDA, MoD in the Adalat that his case has been resolved. It was mentioned that his pension arrears along with due additional pension arrears of Rs.4.41 lakhshas been processed and will be credited in his bank account at the earliest.
Ms. Katara Saralaben Shakrabhai
Ms Katara Sarlaben Shakrabhai is an unmarried daughter from Gujarat who had been waiting for family pension of her father to be sanctioned to her since 2022. It has been ascertained from Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying that arrears of family pension amounting to ₹5,18,095/- for the period 16.05.2022 to 31.07.2025 in respect of Ms. Katara Saralaben Shakrabhai have been sanctioned and will be credited in her account at the earliest.
Smt Saroja
Smt. Saroja is the widow of Sepoy Mallyan. Her grievance was the mismatch in the name of the Bank. Due to this error, her pension was delayed for over four months. It was apprised by the O/o CGDA and PCDA, MoD in the Adalat thatthe discrepancies were rectified and pension arrears amounting to Rs.8,61,163/- wascredited to her account. Her monthly family pension was also re-started.
Smt Harbiri Devi
Smt Harbiri Devi was requesting payment of her late husband’s Life Time Arrear (LTA) for the period from March 1, 2007, to February 14, 2019, and her enhanced rate family pension from February 15, 2019, to February 14, 2024. Her bank had issued a Non-Payment Certificate confirming that these arrears were never paid due to a mismatch in account details and the subsequent migration to SPARSH. It was apprised by the O/o CGDA and PCDA, MoD in the Adalat thatthe discrepancies in her account were rectified and arrears of Rs.7,24,308/- processed for payment in her bank account.
G Chitra
Smt. G. Chitra is, wife of Late Honorary Naib Subedar P. Gunasekaran. Pension arrears of her husband were pending. Despite multiple complaints over the last six months, the matter remained unresolved. It was apprised by the O/o CGDA and PCDA, MoD in the Adalat that Life Time Arrears and family pension amounting to Rs. 7,45,067/- have been processed for credit into the bank account.
