TARGET OF HOUSES UNDER PMAY-G

In order to achieve the objective of "Housing for All" in rural areas, the Ministry of Rural Development is implementing Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana- Gramin (PMAY-G) with effect from 1st April 2016 to provide assistance to 2.95 crore eligible rural households with basic amenities by March 2024. The State/UT-wise number of houses targeted to be constructed under PMAY-G by the year 2024 is placed in Annexure I.

The target under the PMAY-G was construction of 2.95 crore pucca houses with basic amenities by March, 2024, out of which almost all houses have been sanctioned and 2.69 crore houses have been completed till end of the FY 2023-24.

The Union Cabinet has approved the proposal for “Implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana- Gramin (PMAY-G) during FY 2024-25 to 2028-29” for construction of additional 2 crore rural houses along with the remaining houses against the earlier target of 2.95 cr houses by March, 2025.

The State/UT-wise progress as on 06.03.2025 against the targets allocated till March 2024 under PMAY-G is placed in Annexure II.

The State/UT-wise details of central share released under the scheme till Financial Year 2023-24 is given in Annexure III.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Rural Development Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani in a written reply in Lok Sabha today.
