Conference Explores Impact of AI on Jobs; highlights need for India to invest heavily in creating intellectual property instead of remaining as a workforce supplier

The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) successfully hosted the 3rd NIELIT International Conference on Communication, Electronics, and Digital Technologies (NICEDT 2025) during February 14-15, 2025 at its Ropar Campus in Punjab.

The two-day event attracted a diverse group of researchers, academicians, industry professionals, and students from around the world, fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration in cutting-edge fields of Information, Electronics, and Communication Technology (IECT).

NICEDT 2025 underscored the significance of digital innovation, sustainable technology, and interdisciplinary collaboration in shaping the future of IECT. The event also emphasized the role of digital skilling in preparing a workforce for emerging global challenges.

Highlights of the second day of NICEDT 2025

 

  • The main highlight of the second day was a panel discussion on “Workforce Transformation: Impact of AI on Jobs”. The panellists were Ms. Kirti Seth, Ex-Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the IT-ITeS Sector Skills Council at NASSCOM; Dr. Amit Mishra, Sr. Director NIC; Dr. Thilini De Silva, NSBM, Green University, Sri Lanka; Sh. Sanjay Shekhawat, Co-Founder Suchama AI; Sh. Arun Choudhary, Scientist, Ministry of Renewable Energy. Moderator of the panel was Dr. S. K. Dhurandher, Executive Director, NIELIT.

Ms. Kirti Seth emphasised that to become leading economy of the world with per capita incomes comparable to the best in the world, India needs to invest heavily on creating intellectual property instead of remaining as a workforce supplier.

Panelists shared their views on how the AI is going to change the nature of jobs in different domains.

Over 120 research papers were presented during the two days across multiple technical tracks comprising Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Big Data Analytics, Cyber Security & Forensic, Network and Mobile Security, Advanced Computing - Cloud Computing Edge Computing and Quantum Computing, Blockchain and Web Technologies, VLSI, Semiconductors, Electronic System, IoT, Microwave, Antenna and Communication, Digital Technologies for Future Applications, Assistive Technology for Divyang Jan and Strategy for Digital Skilling for building a global Future Ready workforce.

Presenters of the best paper from each of the total eight tracks were awarded and felicitated in the valedictory session.

Stalls showcasing different industries, sponsors from the region and NIELIT Centres were also on display during the event.
