Republic Day Parade 2025 to showcase India’s cultural diversity & military prowess; Special focus on 75 years of enactment of the constitution & Jan Bhagidari

Republic Day Parade 2025 will be a unique blend of India’s cultural diversity and military prowess, with special focus on 75 years of enactment of the constitution and Jan Bhagidari.

President of the Republic of Indonesia Mr Prabowo Subianto will be the Chief Guest at the parade. Briefing media in New Delhi, Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh stated that a 160-member marching contingent and 190-member band contingent from Indonesia will take part in the Parade at Kartavya Path on January 26, 2025 along with the contingents of Indian Armed Forces.

This year, 31 tableaux from various States, Union Territories, and Central Government Ministries/Departments will participate, showcasing the theme “Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas.” After the National Anthem, balloons with banners of the official logo of the 75th year of the Indian Constitution will be released. The event will conclude with a flypast by 47 aircraft.

On 26th January 2025, the Republic Day Parade will start in the morning with the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laying a wreath at the National War Memorial. The President will arrive at Kartavya Path in a ceremonial buggy and take the salute during a ceremonial march past, which will include units from the Armed Forces, Para Military Forces, Auxiliary Civil Forces, NCC, and NSS.

Following activities are being undertaken as a part of the Republic Day Ceremony 2025: -

75th years of Constitution

75 years of enactment of constitution of India is the focus of Republic Day Celebration.  Two tableaux during the parade will showcase the celebration of 75 years of constitution.  Floral decorations, view cutters will be depicting the theme.  Balloons at the end of the program will be released with the banner of this message.  Quiz and essay competitions were held on MyGov on this subject.

Enhanced convenience of citizens

To facilitate citizens and ease in information and getting access to witness the various events on Republic Day Celebrations – 2025 viz. booking tickets, getting location of the seating and parking arrangements etc. a comprehensive mobile App (on Apple play and Msewa) and Portal ‘Rashtraparv Portal’ has been developed and will serve as a focus point for all the details relating events like Republic Day Parade and Beating Retreat.

Ease of Access

  • Metro Services: Free Metro ride will be provided to Invitees/Ticket holder of RDP-2025 at entry point of the Metro Stations across Delhi. Delhi Metro operations will begin at 0400 AM on 26th January, 2025 across Delhi.  Parking spaces of Delhi Metro in Across Delhi will be opened on chargeable basis at regular rates.
  • Park and Ride Scheme:    Park and Ride Scheme will be implemented in this year also. Under this scheme, invitees will park their vehicle at Palika Parking, Connaught Place and JawaharLal Nehru Stadium’s parking area (gate-14 & 15) from there they use the ferry services (pick and drop) through the hired DTC buses.  The ferry services will start at 6:00 A.M. and stop at 8:30 AM.
  • All enclosures are accessible and Divyang friendly with ramp facility. There will also be youth volunteers from NCC with wheelchairs for assistance.
  • Although the list of prohibited items are communicated well in advance, to facilitate citizens cloak room facility will also be there.
  • We have nearly doubled the toilet facility for ease of visitors and first aid booths will be outside the entry points also.

 

Special Activities for JAN BHAGIDARI

Special Guests: To honour their contributions in nation and society building, Special guests from different walks of life are invited as Government’s Special guests to witness the event. These guests are achievers and best performers in their respective area and are the architects of Swarnim Bharat.  For RDC 2025, approximately 10,000 Special Guests in 34 categories, including the Sarpanches from villages excelling in key government schemes have been invited as Special Guests.

Involvement of citizens in the celebration:

For RDC-2025, Delhi-based couples from each State/UT, dressed in traditional attire, are being invited to witness the parade. Dressed in traditional attire, these guests will symbolize the diversity of India on Kartavya Path. For the first time, around 2,000 (1,000x2) winners of different online competitions, being organised by Ministry of Defence in collaboration with MyGov and All India Radio are being invited.

On the Occasion of RDC-2025 and 75th years of implementation of Indian Constitution, following Competition/Contest/activity has been organized:

During this year Republic Day Celebrations, following activities/components will be performed:

 

Heralding of Parade

 

Republic Day Parade will be heralded by 300 Cultural artists playing ‘Sare Jahan Se Achha’ musical instruments of different parts of the country. An indigenous mix of instruments that resonate with the melody, beat and hopes of a billion hearts of Indians. Ensemble of instruments includes a wide mix of wind and percussion instruments, like Shehnai, Sundari, Nadaswaram, Been, Mashak Been, Ransingha – Rajasthan, Flute, Karadi Majalu, Mohuri, Sankha, Tutari, Dhol, Gong, Nishan, Chang, Tasha, Sambal, Chenda, Idakka, Lezim, Thavil, Gudum Baza, Talam, Monbah etc.

Tableaux: This year, 31 Tableaux from different State Government/Union Territories (16 Nos) / Central Government Ministries/Departments/Organizations (15 Nos) will participate in Republic Day Parade. Tableaux theme for this year is ‘Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas.’ Two tableaux will showcase the 75 years of the Constitution of India.  Other important highlights are 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and India Meteorological Department.

Cultural Performance: As a cultural component of RDC 2025, Ministry of Culture, through Sangeet Natak Academy, organizing a 11-minute cultural performance with the 5000 Artists in a title of “Jayati Jaya Mamaḧ Bharatam”. The performance will include more than 45 dance forms from different part of country. For the first time, the performance will cover the entire Kartavya Path from Vijay Chowk and C hexagon to ensure that all guests get the same viewing experience.

Beating Retreat Ceremony:  The Republic Day Celebrations comes to a close with the ‘Beating Retreat Ceremony’, which is held every year on the 29th January at Vijay Chowk. Beating Retreat is observed keeping in mind the tradition, according to which, soldiers called a close down to the war at sunset. On the day of the Beating Retreat in Delhi, at 6.15 o’clock in the evening the bugles call the retreat sound and the National Flag is lowered and the National anthem is sung in musical harmony. During the Beating Retreat Ceremony - 2025, only Indian Tunes are to be played by all the participating bands. 

National School Band Competition: All India School band Competition has been organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Education. In this event total 697 School Bands (approx. 12,857 students) participated and grand finale of this competition will be held at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium. Inauguration & Prize distribution will be jointly done by Defence Secretary & Secretary, Ministry of education and Raksha Rajya Mantri & Minister of State (School Education) on January 24 & 25, 2025, respectively. The finalist students have been invited as Special guests to witness the Republic Day Ceremony. 

Among the finalist teams, one girls’ team of Jharkhand will be performing in front of the Presidential Dais and two teams will be performing with the Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path, near Vijay Chowk.

Veer Gatha 4.0

 

The third edition of Project Veer Gatha was organized as a part of Republic Day Celebrations-2025 to inspire and spread awareness among children about the gallant deeds and sacrifices of the Armed Forces. The event was organised by Ministry of Defence in collaboration with Ministry of Education during 16 September to 31 October, 2024. A total of approx. 1.76 Cr students have participated at pan India and a total of 100 school students have been declared winners of the Veer Gatha 4.0. These winners will be felicitated by Raksha Mantri and Minister of Education at a ceremony in New Delhi on 25th January. They shall also attend the Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path.

Bharat Parv

‘Bharat Parv’ will be organised at the Red Fort, Delhi from January 26-31, 2025 by the Ministry of Tourism. It will showcase Republic Day Tableaux, performances by the Military Bands (Static), cultural performances, Food Courts serving pan India cuisines and Crafts Bazaar.

PM’s At Home Function

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will meet NCC Cadets, NSS Volunteers, Youth Exchange programme cadets, Tableaux Artists, Tribal Guests, etc. of Republic Day Celebrations-2005 at his residence on 24th January, 2025.

PM’s NCC Rally

PM’s NCC rally, with the theme of ‘Yuva Shakti-Viksit Bharat’ is scheduled to be organised at Cariappa Parade Ground, Delhi Cantt. on January 27, 2025, where Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will review the multifarious activities of the NCC. In view of above, this Republic Day Celebrating the 75 years of Constitution is of the people, by the people and for the people.
