National Commission for Scheduled Castes organizes Interaction Programme with NCST, NCM, NCBC and NCSK, to deliberate on joint strategies to empower the National Commissions

The National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) organized an interaction programme with National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST), National Commission for Minorities (NCM), National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) and National Commission for Safai Karamcharis (NCSK), in New Delhi today. The objective was to discuss the common issues of all Commissions and to make them more effective so that they can carry out their mandate for betterment of public in an efficient manner.

 

 

Chairing the meeting, Shri Kishor Makwana, Chairman, NCSC, said that the main objective of this interaction programme is to discuss how the functioning of the Commissions can be improved so that people's problems can be resolved and they can get speedy justice. He emphasized to strengthen the Commissions by preparing a joint memorandum and send it to the Government. Supporting this view, NMC Chairman Sh. Iqbal Singh Lalpura also said, “We may work together, frame joint strategies and find out ways for more effective implementation of schemes.”

Shri G. Srinivas, Secretary (NCSC) made brief presentation about the Commission’s duties and initiatives. Lack of facilities and infrastructure, court cases on stalling the recommendations of the Commissions are mainly discussed in the meeting.  Shri Srinivas concluded the meeting saying that a common joint memorandum will be prepared and given to the concerned Ministries for strengthening the Commissions to make them more effective by way of recommendations from today’s deliberations.

Smt. A. Neeraja, Secretary (NCBC) and Sh. Rahul Kashyap, Secretary (NCSK) also expressed their views on the functions of the Commissions, along with other members of the Commissions.
