Union Minister Shri G. Kishan Reddy Inaugurates ‘Minerals to Milestones’ Pavilion at IITF 2024, Showcasing India’s Mining Innovations for a Viksit Bharat

Union Minister of Coal and Mines, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, today inaugurated the Ministry of Mines Pavilion at the India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2024, New Delhi. Centered on the theme ‘Minerals to Milestones,’ the Pavilion showcases the essential role minerals play in fostering a self-reliant India and achieving key national milestones, with a focus on sustainable and innovative mining practices.
The inaugural ceremony featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony and the traditional lighting of the lamp by Union Minister Shri G. Kishan Reddy, in the presence of Secretary of the Ministry of Mines, Shri V. L. Kantha Rao, and Secretary of the Ministry of Coal, Shri Vikram Dev Dutt and senior officials of ministry, field offices and industry representatives.
Union Minister of Coal and Mines, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, also released an inspiring film tracing India’s mining journey from past to present. This engaging film celebrates the evolution of the sector, showcasing key achievements and innovations. The Minister also visited all stalls, viewing the achievements and contributions of major organizations such as HCL, NALCO, Hindalco, Hindustan Zinc, DMF, JNARDDC, NIRM, GSI, and MECL, while witnessing the innovative technologies and sustainable practices they are implementing.
Union Minister also took a virtual ride of underground mine in the experience zone of pavilion. Recycling initiatives led by JNARDDC encouraged attendees to engage in eco-friendly practices, supporting sustainability efforts. Shri Reddy also interacted with Self-Help Groups (SHGs) at the DMF stall, commending their efforts in promoting local products and contributing to community upliftment. He highlighted the importance of empowering local communities and praised their significant role in sustainable development.
The Minister later engaged with the press at the Pavilion, sharing his insights on the importance of the mining sector in India’s growth, sustainable practices, and strategic initiatives driving national development. He reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting local enterprises and fostering growth in the sector in alignment with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
The Ministry of Mines warmly invites all IITF 2024 attendees to visit its Pavilion, open from 14th to 27th November. This pavilion exemplifies the mining sector’s contributions to national progress and sustainability under the theme ‘Minerals to Milestones.’
