The Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Government of India and National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support services for leveraging the schemes of NABARD to benefit women SHGs of Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM). The MoU was signed by Additional Secretary, Rural Livelihoods, Ministry of Rural Development Shri Charanjit Singh, Deputy Managing Director, NABARD Dr A K Sood in the presence of Chairman NABARD Shri Shaji KV and other senior officials from MoRD and NABARD.

Speaking on the occasion, Additional Secretary Shri Charanjit Singh said “This MoU with NABARD will add to the multiple support initiatives which the Ministry under DAY-NRLM undertaking to enhance livelihood opportunities of SHG women. This will help enable SHG Didis graduate as entrepreneurs and enhance their incomes to become Lakhpati Didis as envisioned by the Prime Minister.”

Shri Shaji KV, Chairman, NABARD said “NABARD is pleased to join hands with MoRD in their mission to support rural SHG women with this MoU which will support the aspirations of SHG Didis for their economic growth.”

The MoU would enable graduation of women SHG members as entrepreneurs, facilitate setting up of ‘Not-for-Profit’ Corporate BC entity and deployment of women SHG members as Business Correspondents (BC Sakhi) therein and provide necessary support to State Rural Livelihoods Mission to establish an ecosystem for better financial inclusion and upscaling enterprises run by women SHG members.
