The Delhi-based EIACP Programme Centres consisting of WWF, TERI, SPA, Sulabh-IIHH, CPCB and JNU EIACP PC-RPs, under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) joined hands for organizing a mass Cleanliness cum Awareness drive under ‘Swacchta Hi Seva’ campaign and ‘Mission LiFE’. The activities were held from 28th September to 02nd October 2023. As a part of the awareness activity, the cleanliness cum awareness drives were carried out at different identified locations in the Delhi region in association with the MCD staff in the presence of the area councillor, local communities and the Delhi Based EIACP PC-RP team members. The idea was to understand the importance of waste segregation at source, the journey of waste, waste to wealth, and alternatives to SUP.
During the events, photographs and videos of the event were taken and uploaded on the Swachhata Hi Seva Portal. Cleaning activities like cleaning common areas, sensitization programmes, setting up of photo booths and pledge-taking sessions were organized, in which school and college students, general public took part. People from different sections of the society have come forward and joined this mass movement of cleanliness. From Government officials to MCD, NDMC staff, area councillors to the general public, all have lined up for noble work. Each and every designated location of the cleanliness drive witnessed the contribution of people in large numbers. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has become a ‘Jan Andolan’ receiving tremendous support from the people. The drive helped in raising awareness among the general public about the importance of cleanliness and its impact on health, environment, and overall well-being.
The team managed to reach approximately 20000+ people through this mass cleanliness cum awareness drive.
