In pursuance of Government’s vision of “Garbage Free India”, the Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying organized a Swachhata (Shramdan) Campaign under the Programme “Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2023” outside the Office of National Federation of Fishers Cooperatives Ltd (FISHCOPFED), Sarita Vihar, New Delhi at 10:00 AM  today.

The Swachhata Hi Seva (Shramdan) Programme at FISHCOPFED, Sarita Vihar was led by Dr. Abhilaksh Likhi, Secretary, Department of Fisheries along with Shri Sagar Mehra, Joint Secretary (DoF) and Ms Neetu Kumari Prasad, Joint Secretary (DoF). Officers/Officials of Department of Fisheries, FISHCOPFED and citizens from neighbouring areas participated in the Shramdan activities with full enthusiasm.  About 200 persons participated in the programme and cleaned the garbage/scraps piled up around the office and the market place.

Subordinate Offices under the Department of Fisheries have also organized the Swachhata Hi Seva programme today at different locations across various States. Total 18 different sites were identified by them across the country where shramdan activities were undertaken include fishing harbour, fish landing centers, fishing jetty, coastal fishing village, fish markets etc.

Dr. Abhilaksh Likhi, Secretary, Department of Fisheries extended his gratitude to local residents and other officials for their participation in  Swachhata Hi Seva (Shramdan) Programme. Officials from FISHCOPFED and local residents expressed their sincere gratitude to the Department of Fisheries for selecting the location for cleanliness drive and spreading the message of cleanliness.
