As of 31st March, 2022, a total of 17.9 crore individuals are provided with Ayushman cards under Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY). This includes 4.68 crore cards issued by States using their own IT systems. More than 3.28 crore hospital admissions worth Rs. 37,606 crores are authorized under the scheme through a network of over 25,800 Empanelled Healthcare Providers. State/UT-wise and year-wise details thereof are at Annexure. State/UT of Odisha and Delhi have not joined the scheme. The State of West Bengal withdrew from the scheme in January, 2019. If these healthcare services were availed by the beneficiaries on their own, it would have resulted in out-of-pocket expenditure to the tune of 1.5 to 2 times the expenditure incurred under the scheme. The scheme has successfully contributed in reducing out-of-pocket expenditure in the country.
The Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Bharti Pravin Pawar stated this in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today.
