Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY), additional foodgrains @ 5 kg per person per month for all the beneficiaries covered under National Food Security Act (NFSA) [which at present, as per identification of States/UTs, is approx 79.53 Crore] is provided, free of cost. First Phase of the scheme was from April-June, 2020. Second phase of the scheme was from July-November, 2020. Third phase of the scheme was from May-June, 2021. Fourth phase of the scheme was from July-November, 2021 and Fifth phase is from December, 2021 to March 2022.
State Wise expenditure incurred for PMGKAY is placed at Annexure-I.
State-wise quantity of foodgrains allocated and distributed to States/UTs, is placed at Annexure-II.
The State-wise details of current number of beneficiaries benefitted under the scheme, is placed at Annexure-III. The number of beneficiaries keeps on changing due to addition/deletion of ration cards due to various reasons, as reported by States/UTs time to time.
The Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) has been extended for period of another four months i.e. December, 2021 to March, 2022 (Phase-V).
This information was given by the Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ms.Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha today.
