The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has commenced the Preparatory Phase of Special Campaign 6.0 from 15th to 30th September 2026, focusing on institutionalizing Swachhata, minimizing pendency, improving record management and enhancing efficiency in Government offices.

Building on the previous year’s focus on scientific management of e-waste, this year’s campaign emphasizes effective collection, segregation and disposal of e-waste in accordance with MoEFCC guidelines and the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022. C-MET, an autonomous society under MeitY, is undertaking the scientific management of e-waste generated by MeitY in accordance with the prescribed procedures.

As part of the preparatory phase, regular review meetings at the level of Additional Secretary and senior officers are being held to monitor progress and ensure timely implementation of campaign activities.

A comprehensive inspection of record rooms has been undertaken to identify obsolete and redundant records for weeding and strengthen record management. Nodal Officers have also been identified at the Division level for weeding of physical files, closure of e-files and identification of pending references, including references relating to Hon’ble Members of Parliament, PMO, Parliamentary Assurances and public grievances.

Identification of e-waste has already been completed, and its disposal through C-MET is underway, facilitating the optimal utilization of office space and infrastructure. MeitY is also undertaking cleanliness and space-management activities in its premises and associated offices, including the clearance and disposal of unused, redundant and discarded materials..

The preparatory phase will provide the groundwork for the implementation phase from 2nd to 31st October 2026, during which identified pendency, records and other activities will be monitored for timely disposal, closure or completion.

Through sustained monitoring and coordinated action, MeitY is committed to institutionalizing Swachhata, minimizing pendency, optimizing resources and improving efficiency in Government functioning, in alignment with the Government’s vision of a Swachh Bharat.
