New Delhi, 29 September 2026: As part of Special Campaign 6 and Swachhata Hi Seva 2026, the Department of Legal Affairs organized an awareness workshop on ‘E-waste Management’ at Kartavya Bhavan-2, New Delhi, on 28 September 2026.

The workshop was attended by Dr. Rajiv Mani, Secretary, Department of Legal Affairs, along with officers and officials of the Department. The workshop aimed to sensitise participants about the growing importance of responsible management of electronic waste and encourage environmentally sustainable practices in day-to-day life and workplace.

Addressing the participants, Dr. Rajiv Mani, Secretary, Department of Legal Affairs, highlighted the importance of responsible e-waste management and emphasised the need for greater awareness regarding the proper handling and disposal of electronic waste. He stressed the significance of adopting sustainable practices and collective responsibility to minimise the adverse impact of e-waste on the environment.

The workshop provided participants with useful information on various aspects of e-waste management, including proper segregation, safe collection, responsible disposal and recycling of electronic items. The participants were also sensitised to the 3R approach — Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, which encourages reducing the generation of e-waste, reusing electronic products wherever feasible and ensuring their recycling through appropriate channels.

The session also highlighted the importance of responsible disposal of discarded electronic devices and components, while creating awareness about the environmental benefits of adopting sustainable consumption and waste-management practices.

The awareness initiative forms part of the Department’s efforts under Special Campaign 6 and Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 to promote cleanliness, sustainability and responsible waste management. It also reinforced the message that effective e-waste management requires active participation and awareness at both the individual and institutional levels.
